Live and Studio Production Training, Exploration of Audio Technology and Career-Enhancing Guidance and Advice Mark Highlights of AES Academy 2020

— Expert presenters, practical education, live console training and more
slated for AES Academy at The NAMM Show 2020 in January —

New York, NY, December 20, 2019 — With less than a month until the opening of AES Academy 2020, taking place concurrently with The NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA, January 16 – 19, organizers and attendees are gearing up for the Audio Engineering Society’s return to the west coast for pro audio training and networking led by many of the brightest minds in the industry. AES members can take advantage of an amazing bargain for four packed days of training by attending the AES Academy for just $25 at Advance Registration rates through January 4, 2020 ($40 thereafter, including onsite). The Advance non-member registration rate of just $150 ($75 for students) includes a year of AES membership and benefits.

Highlights of the AES Academy 2020 include:

Electronic Dance Music Academy
Bringing the boom is the focus of the newly developed Electronic Dance Music Academy, which kicks off with a keynote from artist, producer and award-winning author Rick Snoman on “The Past, Present and Future of Electronic Dance Music Production.” The Academy takes further focus with technical application presentations from Ableton and L-Acoustics.

Line Array Academy
Leading line array manufacturers CODA, dB Technologies and L-Acoustics will each introduce and instruct attendees of the popular Line Array Loudspeaker System Academy on line array and system theory and the operational details of their latest line-array offerings in a small classroom format.

Audio Education Academy
Alongside tech education sessions on higher education and instruction on specific technologies, the Audio Education Academy welcomes music producer, musician, composer and recording engineer Warren Huart as host of a day of sessions. Huart will bring insights on techniques and technologies from his popular Produce Like A Pro series, designed to help create radio-worthy and professional sounding music in a home studio environment, and host a cadre of industry luminaries to provide additional perspectives.

Main Stage: Live
Renowned FOH engineer Brad Divens joins Live Sound Production Specialist Tom Der for two sessions drawn from Divens’ fixintogetmixin series presentations, “Putting Together a Great Live Mix” and, taking three songs from three genres from raw tracks to polished mixes, “Deconstructing the Mix,” sponsored by Soundcraft and JBL.

Audio Careers
SoundGirls will host a series of mentoring sessions, each aimed at offering expert insights on specific segments of the audio industry. The stellar line-up of mentors will include Leslie Gaston-Bird, Dawn Birr, Sara Elliot, Jett Galindo, Meegan Holmes, Leslie Ann Jones, Karrie Keyes, Jeri Palumbo, Piper Payne and April Tucker. The Studio Careers Panel at AES Academy 2020 will let veteran studio owners and managers share what they look for when hiring and guide attendees towards gainful employment.

Control Room Academy
Acknowledging that how you set up your monitors, and the monitoring environment, are as important as loudspeaker performance, this series of training sessions will dig deep into recording studio control room acoustics, geometry, and application of leading technologies with leaders in studio design and construction – Steve Greenberg, Tony Hoover, Alex Otto, John Storyk, Carl Tatz and Robb Wenner.

Hands-On Live Console Academy Training
Popular live digital consoles from leading manufacturers Yamaha and Allen & Heath will host half-day, hands-on console training sessions, including operational details of their live digital mixers, as well as features of their latest software versions. Class size is limited and guaranteed seating requires an independent registration ($25 advance, $40 onsite).
