Auralex® Acoustical Treatment Helps Producer/Engineer
Glenn Rosenstein Keep His Rooms Consistent

Producer and mixer for artists including U2, Talking Heads and Ziggy Marley now has personal studios in Nashville and Muscle Shoals, and Auralex® products have allowed him to create seamlessly consistent acoustical environments between them

Indianapolis, IN, January 3, 2018 – Glenn Rosenstein’s roots in the record business go way back to the original Power Station Studios in New York City, where he fine-tuned his skills in engineering, mixing and production craft working alongside some of the best in the business. That led to him creating timeless classics with such artists as U2, Talking Heads, Ziggy Marley, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam and many others. As a producer, mixer and engineer, Rosenstein’s projects have won three GRAMMY® Awards, garnered five GRAMMY nominations, and won both OSCAR® and Golden Globe awards. And one thing that’s been consistent throughout much of that history is how acoustical treatment products and services from Auralex® Acoustics, Inc., the world’s leading brand of acoustical treatments, have helped assure Rosenstein a great listening environment in the studios he owns and works in.

“I’ve used the Auralex MoPAD™ and ProPAD™ monitor isolators for so long now I’m pretty sure my picture is on their packaging,” jokes Rosenstein, who is also a regular user of Auralex’s GRAMMA™ isolation risers and Auralex ProPanels™ acoustic treatments at his Skylight Studio in the Nashville suburb of Franklin. Now, these and other Auralex products, including ProPanels, LENRD™ DST bass traps and ProGO™ stand-mounted absorbers, are an integral part of Skyline Studio Muscle Shoals, Rosenstein’s new facility in another fabled music city south of Nashville. “I’ve always wanted a presence in Florence,” he says, referring to one of the four towns that make up the Muscle Shoals area, where classic recordings by Aretha Franklin, the Rolling Stones and Wilson Pickett once poured out at a rapid pace. “It’s been one of the greatest influences on me and the music I work on. So naturally, I wanted Auralex to be part of any studio I did there.”

In fact, says Rosenstein, Auralex not only specified products for the new studio space but also provided highly specific guidance about their placement and positioning in the studio, to maximize both the acoustical and aesthetic benefits. “Eric Smith and Steve McQueary from Auralex came up with stunning and practical solutions for the new studio,” he says. “They literally were able to take a space that at first didn’t easily lend itself to being a proper monitoring environment and turn it into a first-class place to listen critically to music. The new studio sounds phenomenal but it looks great, too — they had the idea to use rollable ProGO panels as added bass trapping and serve a secondary use of putting together a temporary vocal booth if needed; one of the things I’ve always liked about Auralex is that they understand that studios have to look as good as they sound and remain flexible for certain recording and monitoring situations.”

With the new studio open barely a month, Rosenstein has already moved productions between there and his Franklin studio, as well as through other Nashville studios that also use Auralex treatment products. One of those is Whitney Woerz, a social-media star with over 180 million online views, who Rosenstein produces and guides, through his 600 Volt custom label partnered with Sony Music. “With Whitney and all of the other projects, we can go from room to room to room and always have a consistent, predictable monitoring environment, thanks to Auralex,” he says. “They’ve been part of my career for a long time, and I can’t ever see them not being there for me in the future.”
