CLEAR CHANNEL BROADCAST PROPERTIES IN THE D.C./BALTIMORE RADIO MARKET SELECT THE DN-C640 SLOT-IN NETWORKED CD PLAYER FROM DENON® PROFESSIONAL
— Five Clear Channel FM stations will share a new production and postproduction
facility equipped with no fewer than 41 DN-C640s —ITASCA, IL, July 28, 2008 — When Clear Channel made the decision to build a brand new production and post production facility for its five radio properties in the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. market, it went for the very best, including the DN-C640 slot-in networked CD player from Denon® Professional, the leader in digital recording and playback solutions for broadcast audio. When the new facility, which will serve Clear Channel FM stations WBIG (Classic Hits), WASH (Soft Rock), WIHT (Top 40), WMZQ (Country) and WWDC (Active Rock/Modern Rock), is completed by Q2 2009, it will have a total of 41 DN-C640 CD players throughout its studios and editing suites. Giesler Broadcasting Supply in Allen, Texas, made the sale.
All five area Clear Channel stations will benefit from a new broadcast facility that includes six on-air studios, ten production/editing suites and a performance studio where recording artists will be able to perform for live broadcast. Each new on-air studio will have three DN-C640 CD players, and additionally there will be two assigned to each production suite and three more in the performance studio. “Everything about the DN-C640 works well for radio broadcasting,” says Matt Howell, Director of Engineering for the stations and the facility. “The slot loading is incredibly convenient for on-air work, and the built-in AES and balanced audio outputs are a must in radio today. But I especially love RS-232 as a control protocol, and the DN-C640 has it as part of its feature set, so all of the players can be completely networked throughout the facility and operated remotely. It’s a great machine and it’s going to fit in well with a great new broadcast facility.”
