MGM GRAND AT FOXWOODS CASINO CHOOSES THE DENON® PROFESSIONAL DN-C640 SLOT-IN NETWORK CD PLAYER FOR ALL FOH LOCATIONS

future potential expansion of the system —ITASCA, IL, July 14, 2008 — The new MGM Grand at Foxwoods Casino has 825 guest rooms as well as a 4,000-seat theater and several other entertainment venues. Helping the $700-million facility make better use of all that space is the Denon Professional DN-C640 Slot-In Network CD Player, whose single-rack space design allows the portable FOH DSP racks more room for other equipment. Altogether, seven of the DN-C640 CD players were installed in separate racks by systems integrator North American Theatrix of Waterbury, Connecticut.
The new MGM Grand at Foxwoods Casino, near Norwich, Connecticut, hosted a high-profile debut on May 17, 2008. The star-studded opening event in the MGM Grand Theater featured Alicia Keys, Josh Groban, John Mayer, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jenny McCarthy, Sean “Diddy” Combs and others. Between acts, the theater was filled with the remarkable sound of the DN-C640, playing a selection of transition music for the glamorous guest list. Greg Downing, Director of Engineering for North American Theatrix, says the DN-C640 fit the requirements of the design specification perfectly. “The form factor is just what we needed – a single rack space to keep the rack compact yet still have what it needs inside,” he says. “But we also liked the fact that the DN-C640 has network capability – it can be remotely controlled via an Ethernet connection. That gives the system excellent options for expansion for the future, as well as access to audio on a wide array of formats including MP3 and WMA. Plus, we like the fact that the DN-C640 has a very professional look to it. It doesn’t look like it belongs in someone’s home stereo system. All of that combined with great sound made it the perfect choice.”
The Denon Professional DN-C640 Slot-in Network CD Player offers users tremendous playback format options utilizing largely untapped system resources found in many of today’s standard audio, network and computing devices. The unit enables audio data-file playback from both CD and DVD discs and easy access to network playback capabilities. It is well suited to serving as a fully networked audio playback control center, and is compatible with most standard audio data file formats including CDDA (.cda), WAVE (.wav), MPEG-1/2 Layer III (.mp3), MPEG-1 Layer II (.mpg) and Windows Media Audio (.wma), allowing for up to 20 hours of MP3 or similar audio playback from a single CD, CD-R or CD-RW.
