MARANTZ® PROFESSIONAL PMD580 SOLID STATE RECORDER SELECTED TO PROVIDE RECORDING CAPABILITY FOR PHILADELPHIA’S FAMED EPISCOPAL ACADEMY
— PMD580 Recorders will be featured in classroom buildings, campus center
and music facilities in school’s new campus —ITASCA, IL, September 17, 2008 — The Episcopal Academy, one of America’s leading private 1-12 educational institutions, was founded in Philadelphia in 1785 to educate the city’s youth in both the fine arts and practical studies. At that time, it was one of the most advanced educational facilities in the country, and it will remain that way in its new location in suburban Newtown Square, thanks in large part to the inclusion of Marantz® Professional PMD580 Solid State Digital Recorders. Audio Video Systems Group (AVSG), the commercial systems design and integration division of HiFi House Group of Broomall, PA, installed the Marantz PMD580s this summer, in time for the 2008-09 school year.
The Episcopal Academy prides itself on a strong academic curriculum, vibrant arts programs and comprehensive, competitive athletics. That diversity of focus is reflected in the school’s new campus, which has separate buildings for the Upper and Lower schools; a campus center housing the library, additional classrooms and separate dining rooms for the Upper and Lower schools; an athletic center with a competition gym; an Olympic-sized swimming pool; and an administrative center with conference rooms.
PMD580 Recorders are installed in the Music and Band classrooms serving both the Upper and Lower schools. The two Rehearsal Rooms in the Campus Center have each also received a PMD580, offering the ability to record lectures, performances, meetings and more, archive them onto Compact Flash (CF) card media and play them back as needed at the highest quality resolution, at either 16- or 24-bit. “The Marantz Professional PMD580 Recorder is a very reliable and cost-effective unit,” says John McCann – CTS, Systems Engineer with AVSG. “The Marantz products are easy to integrate into any systems design and easy to use for the customer. There is also the capability for a LAN connection, which we’re implementing on this project, so the PMD580 can be networked, which increases its usefulness. It’s a great deck.”Expanding on the legacy of reliable, professional recording of the PMD560 and PMD570 solid state recorders for permanent installations, the Marantz PMD580 is a single rack-space digital recorder that adds advanced network control and automatic archiving to the capabilities of this popular line. Like its line mates, the PMD580 uses proven, stable Compact Flash (CF) as its recording medium, with the inherent reliability of no moving parts. But the PMD580 takes convenience and functionality to another level, incorporating Ethernet connectivity and an internal, browser-style interface that allows centralized control of all operations including scheduling of recordings, machine setup, and file transfer.
