MARANTZ® PROFESSIONAL PMD®580
SOLID STATE RECORDER SELECTED FOR THE MORTGAGE BANKERS ASSOCIATION OF
AMERICA’S NEW CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS
— Systems integrator Phoenixx Systems installs 13 PMD580s in
boardrooms, conference rooms and training rooms in the MBAA’s
new 50,000-square-foot building, linking them all through the PMD580’s
comprehensive network capability —
ITASCA, IL, August 13, 2008 — In the design
of its new Washington, D.C. headquarters, the Mortgage Bankers Association
of America (MBAA) has selected the PMD®580 Solid State Recorder
from Marantz® Professional – the leader in digital recording
and playback solutions for corporate, educational and broadcast applications
– for use in 13 locations throughout the 50,000-square-foot structure.
The PMD580, which offers sophisticated features such as network control
and automated archiving, has been placed in corporate boardrooms, conference
rooms and training areas in order to accurately document, as well as
distribute and archive, the information that transpires in those rooms.
The PMD580s were installed and integrated by Phoenixx Systems of Poolsville,
Maryland, under the project management of James Hubley. Phoenixx Systems
also did the entire building’s A/V systems design and integration.
The new MBAA building is the epitome of a high-tech corporate
environment. Phoenixx Systems created programming macros, with which
users of any of the building’s 30 meeting rooms can configure
the building’s integrated technology with the touch of a virtual
button on an AMX touch screen controller. The PMD580 recorders are all
linked via a local area network within the building, from which administrators
can access the recorders’ content from a remote location and download
the audio for use in podcasts, Internet streaming and other distribution
methods. The system administrators can also monitor the units themselves,
making maintenance vastly simpler and more cost-effective.
“The PMD580 is the right tool for this very critical
application,” says Brian Gross, CEO and Senior Design Engineer
for Phoenixx Systems. “The MBAA needed to know that they would
be able to record a wide range of things, from corporate meetings to
training sessions, in a variety of rooms, and they wanted a consistent
and reliable solution for that. We pointed out that not only did the
PMD580 give them that, but it also added another dimension in terms
of its network capability. Each unit is IP-addressable, and instead
of technicians having to physically retrieve data from each recorder,
it can be pulled as a file right off the hard drive. It’s a beautiful
solution that makes things so much simpler. The PMD580 is also surprisingly
cost-effective — when we broke down the cost savings from the
network capability alone, the client immediately realized the cost and
productivity benefits. The PMD580 is more than a great product; it’s
a great system, and it performs flawlessly.”
Expanding on the legacy of reliable, professional recording
of the PMD560 and PMD570 solid state recorders for permanent installations,
Marantz offers the PMD580, a single rack-space digital recorder that
adds advanced network control and automatic archiving to the capabilities
of this popular line. Like the other recorders in the PMD series, the
PMD580 uses proven, stable Compact Flash (CF) as its recording medium,
with the inherent reliability of no moving parts. The PMD580 takes convenience
and functionality to another level, incorporating Ethernet connectivity
and an internal, browser-style interface that allows centralized control
of all operations, including scheduling of recordings, machine setup,
and file transfer. For more information, visit www.d-mpro.com.
