MARANTZ OFFERS PMD®620 AND
CDR310 MODELS AS RECORDING
SOLUTIONS FOR THE LAW ENFORCEMENT MARKET
— New PMD®620 Hand-Held Digital Recorder is perfect for in-the-field
operation, while CDR310 Professional CD Recorder is ideal for stationary
applications —
ITASCA, IL, February 5, 2008 — Marantz®
Professional, a leading recording products manufacturer and the choice
of law enforcement professionals for years, offers two new products,
the PMD®620 Hand-Held Digital Recorder and the CDR310 Professional
CD Recorder, as turnkey recording solutions for the law enforcement
market. The PMD620 is an ideal choice to capture audio in the field,
while the CDR310, ideal for stationary interview applications, easily
records and can burn a CD of the recorded material for archival purposes.
The PMD620 represents the next generation of the Marantz
Professional PMD Series of portable recorders. Featuring professional
quality one-touch direct-to-MP3 recording in a pocket-sized package
(a mere 2.5" x 4" x 1"), the PMD620 is Marantz’s
most powerful field recorder to date. The PMD620 utilizes easy-to-find
SD (secure digital) flash memory cards for convenient and massive storage;
organic LED (OLED) display screen; thumb-operated scroll wheel (similar
to that found on leading handheld devices); and USB 2.0 port for easy
transfer of files to computers for storage, transcription and/or burning
to CD. It is powered by the supplied AC adapter or two AA batteries
(not included) and can record up to 70 hours mono on a 1G SD card. The
remarkably straightforward PMD620 is already becoming an easy choice
for field officers, continuing on with the PMD Series’ consistent
tradition of success with law enforcement field work, as well as city,
state and Federal agencies, court reporters, news reporters and a host
of other markets, since the series was introduced nearly 30 years ago.
The CDR310 Professional CD Recorder offers an easy recording solution
(complete with built-in one-touch operational CD burner) for an interview
room setting, tailored toward interrogations or other departmental matters.
The CDR310 is capable of handling a project from beginning to end, with
built-in microphone preamps with XLR connectors and 48V phantom power
for use with external condenser microphones, a built-in high-quality
microphone for maximum convenience and portability and the ability to
record for hours and ultimately finalize the project to CD, all within
one lightweight, battery operated compact unit. The burner can create
both audio discs for instant playback on CD players and data discs for
transfer to a computer or for archiving purposes. Battery power capability
– using the optional RB1651 battery – allows for up to four
hours of remote operation without an external power supply, while support
for uncompressed WAV, CD-DA, AIFF audio and MP3 file formats provides
flexibility and long record times. It can record up to 24 hours on a
single CD-ROM. Easy One-Touch recording makes operation simple, even
under challenging circumstances. Analog line-level inputs and outputs
and S/PDIF-format digital inputs and outputs allow connection to a wide
range of professional audio equipment.
Underscoring these products’ distinct applicability
within the law enforcement market, Martel Electronics (martelelectronics.com),
a California-based electronics provider catering to law enforcement
and other specialty markets, has responded to its customers’ unique
needs by bundling both the Marantz PMD620 and CDR310 with other accessories
and products that enhance these units’ already remarkable usefulness.
Martel’s PMD620 package includes a Martel-designed exclusive “docking
station” stand and a low-profile “conference grabber”
wired boundary microphone (perfect for depositions); their CDR310 package
features two “conference grabber” microphones. Each package
includes a plush carrying case.
Jason Smith, Vice President of Martel Electronics, stated,
“We saw how useful both of these Marantz units would be for law
enforcement. With a field recorder, convenience and ease of use are
paramount, and the PMD620 provides just that. And with a recorder intended
more for interview rooms, users want intuitive operation and convenient
features, and it should also be able to burn a CD quickly and easily
without the need for a computer or external component; the CDR310 is
superior in that regard. We decided to build all-in-one packages for
these products and include our uniquely Martel-branded extras because
we saw the opportunity to make these the definitive recording devices
for law enforcement and related markets.”
Peter Papageorge, Director of Sales of the Marantz Professional
brand, reflected on Marantz’s long history and continued success
in the law enforcement market: “For decades, Marantz Professional
has been proud to be an important supplier for the law enforcement market,
and our new PMD620 and CDR310 recorders represent our ongoing commitment
to providing law enforcement professionals with intuitive tools to help
them do their job.”
