Recording Academy® Producers & Engineers Wing® Hosts "Sonic Spotlight: Hip-Hop and R&B Hitmakers" Webinar, Premiering on Facebook Sept. 24


Santa Monica, Calif. (September 21, 2020) — The Recording Academy® Producers & Engineers Wing® is hosting an exclusive webinar, "Sonic Spotlight: Hip-Hop and R&B Hitmakers," featuring several top producers and engineers creating today's hip-hop and R&B hits. Panelists will share their origin stories and experiences producing contemporary hip-hop and R&B hits, along with career advice. The session will premiere on Facebook Thursday, Sept. 24, at 12:00 p.m. PT here.

Panelists include acclaimed engineer Marcella Araica (Beyoncé, Madonna, Usher), multiplatinum engineer Chris Dennis (Roddy Ricch), producer DJ K.i.D (DaBaby, Quavo, Stunna), GRAMMY®-winning producer and rapper Hit-Boy (Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar), and GRAMMY-winning engineer MixedByAli (Kendrick Lamar, Nipsey Hussle, SZA). Award-winning producer, engineer and singer/songwriter Ebonie Smith (Cardi B, Hamilton cast recording, Sturgill Simpson) will serve as moderator. Multi-GRAMMY-nominated producer, songwriter and engineer Ivan Barias (Academy Trustee and co-chair of the P&E Wing Steering Committee) will kick off the event with a welcome and introductions.

"As part of our ongoing efforts to keep our community engaged during the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to share the perspectives of these important hitmakers via this exclusive webcast," said Maureen Droney, Sr. Managing Director of the Producers & Engineers Wing.
