Netherlands-Based Firm Rent-All Continues to Expand with the Roland
V-800HD MK II

— The V-800HD MK II Multi-Format Video switcher has become the “Swiss Army Knife” in the hire firm’s inventory —

InfoComm, Orlando, FL, June 12, 2019 — The close relationship between Rent-All and Roland Pro AV has been demonstrated once again with the Bemmel, Netherlands-based company investing in the Roland V-800HD MK II Multi-Format Video Switcher for its rental inventory.

Some years ago, Gilian Donders, who is responsible for everything related to video at Rent-All, was looking for a suitable replacement for several video switchers designed for live applications that could offer quality video processing, intuitive operation, reliability, and flexibility. Hans van den Bergh, owner of audio, video, and lighting products distributor Output, suggested that Donders consider the newly introduced Roland V-800HD Multi-Format Video Switcher. After a demonstration by Kees Biemans of Roland Pro AV Benelux and an extensive in-house evaluation, Rent-All added several units to its rental stock.

In the years that followed, Rent-All added other Roland products for streaming and conversion applications as the company steadily grew. Needing to further expand its video switcher inventory, Rent-All adopted Roland’s MK II version of the V-800HD. "We concluded that the V-800HD MK II was still a very strong concept, especially with the latest improvements that Roland has made,” says Donders. “We have been very satisfied with its predecessor, which has always felt like a kind of ‘Swiss army knife’ to us.”

Roland’s multi-format concept offers several advantages over other video mixers and switchers, Donders says. “The unique feature of the V-800HD is the high-quality 10-bit 4:4:4 video processing, the wide variety of connections, and the integrated scalers for incoming and outgoing signals. This enables us to seamlessly merge a variety of video formats and resolutions from cameras, PCs, video servers, and mobile devices with top-class image quality, so that the whole image can then be transferred to projectors in exactly the right resolution or LED screens, recorders, streaming encoders, and other equipment.” And the V-800HD achieves this with minimal delay through the system, he says, so that subjects and their projected images are in sync.

The Roland V-900HD MK II can handle a wide variety of input and output formats such as composite, component, RGB/VGA, DVI-I, DVI-D, DVI-A, and HDMI, as well as SD, HD, and 3G-SDI. The fact that the V-800HD was developed specifically for live applications has enabled Rent-All’s clients to handle a diverse range of jobs, from small business conferences to large festivals, according to Donders. “With a V-800HD you will not easily encounter a situation where you need additional equipment,” he says. Because all inputs and outputs are equipped with scalers and format converters, different formats and resolutions can be used interchangeably and simultaneously. “The quality of the scalers and format converters is also of a high level, so that their use has little or no influence on the signal. Every input and output is also equipped with color correction, so that different cameras can be tuned with respect to color, saturation and contrast,” notes Biemans.

Donders says he is very pleased with Rent-All’s collaboration with Roland. “I have regular contact with them and provide them with feedback as a user. Roland closely monitors how our market is moving and how new products can respond to current and future needs. The philosophy of Roland to focus on the user who demands high quality, reliability, flexibility, and intuitive operation seamlessly fits our needs.”
