Sound Solutions Appoints Norbert Schmied as Managing Director
Company adds industry veteran to key management position
as part of its long-term strategic business plan
Chicago, IL, October 16, 2014 — Sound Solutions, the exclusive U.S. distributor of Avid HiFi turntables and products, Solidsteel audio furniture and Wharfedale loudspeakers, today announced it has appointed Norbert Schmied as Managing Director. Schmied will be responsible for the overall direction of Sound Solutions’ dealer strategies and sales efforts and play a key role in the internal operations of Sound Solutions.
Norbert Schmied brings extensive industry experience to Sound Solutions. Previously he served as Vice President of Sales and Operations at high-end audio products distributor SUMIKO, part of the Fine Sounds Group, and has held positions at REL Acoustics, Immedia and Musical Surroundings. He is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Schmied stated, “I am extremely excited to join the Sound Solutions team. Our product lineup offers genuine value and superb performance, and I look forward to developing closer partnerships with our dealers to ensure our mutual success and to implement strategies that will bring Avid HiFi, Solidsteel and Wharfedale to a broader range of listeners.” Schmied continued, “In addition we will be adding Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MoFi), the legendary audiophile recordings and accessories company, and will be representing ultrahigh-end audio components manufacturer Balanced Audio Technology in our portfolio of brands.”
Schmied noted that with Mobile Fidelity, Sound Solutions plans to develop an easy-to-manage program for independent retailers that will enable them to offer world-renowned MoFi recordings directly to their customers. “We find this is an extremely successful way of bringing customers back into the retail space on a regular basis and of creating additional opportunities for retailers,” he noted. “In addition, representing Balanced Audio Technology is especially exciting for us, as BAT has a well-deserved reputation for offering vacuum-tube and solid-state audio components that rank among the world’s finest.”
Schmied looks forward to implementing immediate and long-term strategies to reinforce Sound Solutions’ dealer-friendly approach. “We are going to focus on dealer sell-through and not just dealer sell-in, offering extensive retail training, working closely with dealers to ensure their sales goals, and developing a ‘fun-professional’ culture that never loses sight of the fact that our personal relationships are our most important asset.”
