FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Bakery Masters Limited-Edition Vinyl
Reissue of Star Trek: The Motion Picture Score

LOS ANGELES, CA, April 20, 2017 – The team at mastering facility The Bakery was recently called upon to master the deluxe double-vinyl reissue of composer Jerry Goldsmith’s classic score from the 1979 sci-fi smash hit Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The album, presented by La-La Land Records, Sony Music and Paramount Pictures, is limited to 1500 units and features colored 180-gram vinyl and a 12-page full-color insert booklet, all housed in a gatefold jacket showcasing original art by award-winning illustrator and designer Daren R. Dochterman. The set was produced by Mike Matessino and Bruce Botnick, mixed and mastered by Bruce Botnick, and restored, edited and assembled by Matessino – all from the original multi-track session tapes. The Bakery’s founder and primary mastering engineer Eric Boulanger, who frequently works with Botnick, mastered the album for vinyl.

Boulanger remarked, “Bruce Botnick’s master that he brought in sounded amazing, and it was a clear directive to make the vinyl sound as close to that source material as possible. Goldsmith’s original score was recorded at the 20th Century Fox stage and prominently features sounds from the massive pipe organ that used to reside there. Those deep, thundering low tones are often the most exciting part of the piece, and we had to take extra care in order to reproduce those strong low frequencies when I was cutting the vinyl. I am extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish with this classic piece of music. The fans are going to love it.”
