The units are designed not only to securely protect the device but also to allow easy access to power, audio output and other connectivity.

As the Apple iPad increasingly becomes a viable and practical Audio/Video and Automation control interface, integrators will need easy-to-install, secure solutions to place iPads in a growing number of commercial, industrial, institutional and residential systems. The Xantech WIPAD and DIPAD charging enclosures present an ideal way to securely mount an iPad so it may be used in a permanent installation. The WIPAD and DIPAD protect the device from unauthorized removal and is designed so power, audio output and other connectivity are preserved. The result: a secure touchscreen interface for any application including single-zone or multi-zone control.

For an effective control solution, contractors can use the WIPAD or DIPAD to mount an iPad and achieve comprehensive control with the Xantech WIC1200 or the Xantech MX88 iPad interface. The WIC1200 facilitates powerful, flexible, and customizable control of a wide array of commercial, institutional, industrial and residential systems. The MX88 iPad interface enables full metadata feedback and menu access/navigation from sources such as iPod®, AM/FM tuner, and digital media from local storage (iTunes and Windows Media Player) as well as “cloud” content from Pandora, Sirius Internet Radio, and XM Online using the Xantech MPCI Multi-Room PC Interface. Both the WIPAD and DIPAD are foam-lined to insulate the iPad and prevent scratches.

The Xantech WIPAD measures 12 inches (L) x 9.81 inches (H) x 0.875 inches. (D). The WIPAD cover is secured with four chrome security screws and a slot is also provided for securing the frame with a standard PC locking cable. The design includes speaker vents for the iPad speaker, provides standard paperclip-sized slots on the top and side for accessing the power and volume control buttons without having to open the frame, and includes wire management grooves for the synch/power and audio output cables. On the WIPAD rear panel, VESA standard mounting hole patterns allow an easy fit with VESA swivel mounting brackets. Hole patterns on the panel also support mating with North American and European standard metal dual-gang electrical junction boxes for convenient wall mounting.

The DIPAD features precisely-machined aluminum construction with bead-blasted and brushed surfaces. The unit comes with three sets of security screws to prevent removal of the iPad from the DIPAD, and four screws for attaching the base to horizontal surfaces from 1/8-inch to 1 inch thick. A slot is provided for securing the frame with a standard PC locking cable. The unit is designed with wire-management grooves for iPad Synch/Power/AV cable.
