INFOCOMM, ORLANDO, FL, June 15, 2011 — Morrisville State College, formerly known as SUNY Morrisville, recently opened a new athletics stadium, Drake Field, and the facility includes a deluxe hospitality suite featuring A/V control solutions from Xantech, a leader in the field of audio/video remote control and distribution. The college looked to East Syracuse, New York-based digital signage contractor Packet TV and company President Noel Bonk to outfit the suite, and Bonk and his team were able to deliver on the college’s specifications and budget, in no small part thanks to Xantech’s popular controller products.
The centerpieces of the A/V system include Xantech’s WIC1200 Web Intelligent Controller and CWTC10 Wireless Touch Controller. Bonk stated, “When the college approached us, they had a fairly strict budget, and they wanted something that was extremely easy to learn, and something that looked cutting-edge, sleek and modern, and those parameters helped drive the components we went with. This is the first time we have used Xantech; we had been amazed when we were turned on to the WIC1200 – we were impressed with its capabilities to control different types of devices, so it seemed like the perfect fit for this system. And they wanted simple touchscreen control – a really simple interface that users could operate intuitively, with one-button operation for things like turning on TVs, switching to DVD or using a PC source, so Xantech’s CWTC10 was the obvious choice. Now, they have this deluxe multi-purpose room, ready for any kind of special event – watching one of the sports teams, conferences, a faculty meeting, etc. – and the A/V and technology options are open and straightforward for everyone.” Another reason Packet TV chose the WIC1200 was because of its networked/web-based control featuring two network LAN ports. This feature allows the company to configure the system and perform diagnostics remotely if needed.
Other Xantech products employed in the system include the IPRS232 XtraLink IP™ POS IP/Serial bridge; RP41AV IR Remote Preamp; 283D Visible Designer Emitter; RC68X IR Remote Programmer; 781ERGPS Regulated Power Supply; and 79210 Phantom Power Module for IR Receivers.
Venturing into the realm of control solutions was new territory for Packet TV, and Xantech proved to be a great partner. Bonk added, “We are a digital signage company, first and foremost, and we are fortunate to have been able to deploy these Xantech control solutions. Because of products like this, we can now offer our customers new services and expand what we can do for the client. It’s very exciting, as this provides a new revenue stream for our company. And Xantech’s customer service and support have been outstanding – they’ve helped us through the design and installation phases for this project, and although we are definitely not predicting any difficulties with the system moving forward, it is great to know that such comprehensive support is there in case we need it.”
Rick Seegull, Xantech Director of Business Development, stated, “The WIC1200 Web Intelligent Controller is a truly versatile piece that can be used in many different applications, as Noel discovered. And the reliability and price make it a go-to piece for any commercial A/V control environment. We look forward to working with Noel and Packet TV again in the future.”
