INDUSTRY VETERAN TOM HARVEY JOINS XANTECH AS DIRECTOR OF SALES
— Company continues to expand and position itself for ongoing growth in the coming years —
SYLMAR, CA, December 15, 2009 — Xantech Corporation, a leading provider of whole-house entertainment and automation systems, announces the addition of Tom Harvey to its senior management team, in the position of Director of Sales. Harvey comes to Xantech with over 25 years’ experience in the consumer electronics industry – over 15 years at the executive level – which includes roles in sales, marketing and executive management.
In his new position, Harvey will focus on driving sales for Xantech and its dealer network by working closely with Xantech dealers, distributors and sales representatives. He will also be developing new and creative sales programs that will allow all dealers and distributors to grow and achieve even more profitability in these challenging times. These efforts will help ensure the long-term growth of Xantech and its valued business partners.
Harvey served as Senior VP of Sales and Marketing for the consumer electronics startup Norcent Technologies from 2005 until late 2007. During that time, Harvey helped recruit and train the sales and marketing staff, along with developing key product and distribution plans for the company. During this time, he also served on the Exhibitor Advisory Board for the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
Most recently, Harvey was a partner in a retained executive search firm focusing on “C” level and Board of Director positions. From 1997-2004, Harvey was associated with Faroudja Laboratories, a renowned high-end video processing company in Silicon Valley. Starting as VP of Sales and Marketing, Harvey quickly assumed additional responsibility as General Manager, which included engineering and manufacturing functions.
While at Faroudja, Tom was part of an EMMY® Award-winning team, and the company’s products won several Innovations Awards at CES. Harvey also expanded the Faroudja market by co-branding product with JVC, Mitsubishi and Sim2, as well as developing the company’s first OEM IC business. He also served on the Board of Directors of Escient Convergence Corp., and was recognized in Wideband and Best magazine as a leader in the home theater industry.
Previous experience included nearly two decades with Sony Electronics. Harvey served as president of Audio Products, the first billion-dollar division of Sony. In this position, he was twice awarded the Chairman’s Award for growth and profitability, as well as a prestigious CLIO Award for a unique advertising campaign. He was also President of the Sony Consumer Sales Company, where he restructured the sales organization for better communication and efficiency. In that role, he once again received the Chairman’s Award for sales growth and cost control of the sales organization.
Harvey graduated from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL, with a BS and MS in Education. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the NIU Alumni Association, on an advisory board to the Department of Athletics, and is an annual guest speaker to the College of Business at Northern.
