GUITAR CENTER PROFESSIONAL HOSTS TWO NIGHTS OF
DIGIDESIGN WORKSHOPS AT NASHVILLE LOCATION
— Specialists Kurt Howell and Tony Shepperd guide attendees through
the
demo recording process and demonstrate Pro Tools 7.4 HD® and mixing
in the box —
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA, June 26, 2008 — Last
month, Guitar Center Professional (GC Pro), the outside sales division
of Guitar Center that focuses on the needs of professional users, hosted
two nights of informative events at its Nashville location highlighting
different aspects of Digidesign’s Pro Tools 7.4 HD®. Kurt
Howell, Pro Tools Product Specialist, Southeastern Region – HD,
led the first night’s clinic, and he was joined by veteran engineer
and mixer Tony Shepperd for the second night. The events, sponsored
by Digidesign, were presented as part of GC Pro’s unparalleled
commitment to providing customers with ongoing technology and enhancement
opportunities.
Both presenters brought with them an impressive list of
credits. Howell’s diverse experience as a recording and touring
artist, A&R rep, session player, songwriter, producer and publisher
has placed him at the industry’s forefront and led him to work
with such top stars as James Brown, Emmylou Harris, the Beach Boys,
Amy Grant, Johnny Cash, Huey Lewis and the News, Hank Williams Jr. and
many more. Shepperd’s career has followed an equally impressive
trajectory; an early partnership with 1980s gospel hitmakers Take 6
has since expanded into a wide and remarkable discography, including
work with Backstreet Boys, Kenny Loggins, Madonna, Elton John, Boyz
II Men, the Cheetah Girls and many more.
Kurt Howell’s clinic on the first night focused
on all aspects of a song demo project for songwriters/engineers aiming
to pitch songs to the industry, including starting a session, file management,
editing, adding effects, virtual instruments and production of a final
mix. Howell guided a capacity crowd through this process, giving tips
and answering questions along the way.
The second night began with Howell isolating and manipulating
the actual tracks from Joss Stone’s hit “Tell Me ‘Bout
It” to demonstrate Pro Tools 7.4’s powerful editing and
composition/arranging capabilities and other unique features. The clinic
then switched gears as Shepperd guided the crowd through an expert presentation
on mixing “in-the-box.”
Chad Evans, Nashville GC Pro Account Manager, stated,
“These events were enormously successful for attendees and presenters
alike. GC Pro realizes the importance of keeping up with the ever-evolving
technological landscape for every musician and engineer, from hobbyist
to professional. We are proud to offer such opportunities to put our
customers and friends in contact with industry experts.”
