FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MULTI-TALENTED ROCKER JAMES MICHAEL OUTFITS HIS NEW NASHVILLE STUDIO
WITH THE HELP OF GUITAR CENTER PROFESSIONAL
— Producer, songwriter, mixer and Sixx:A.M. frontman maintained
and strengthened his longstanding relationship with GC Pro as he moved
from L.A. to Nashville —
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA, September 18, 2009 —
Multi-platinum music producer, songwriter, mixer and recording artist
may have one of the busiest schedules in rock music. Aside from co-founding
and fronting Sixx:A.M., a side project including Mötley Crüe’s
Nikki Sixx, Michael is in heavy demand to produce, mix and write with
artists as diverse as Papa Roach, Alanis Morissette, Hilary Duff,
Saliva, Scorpions, Meat Loaf, Halestorm and many more. Sixx:A.M.’s
debut album The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack (Eleven
Seven Music, 2007) was a critical and commercial success, spawning
the number one rock single of 2008, “Life Is Beautiful.”
Michael produced, mixed and co-wrote Mötley Crüe's Saints
of Los Angeles album (Eleven Seven, 2008), and was a co-writer
and co-producer on the new Papa Roach album Metamorphosis
(DGC/Interscope, 2009). The Crüe Fest DVD, featuring
Mötley Crüe, Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Sixx:AM and Trapt on
their 2008 festival tour, was mixed in stereo and 5.1 by Michael and
debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Music Videos Chart. Recently,
Michael decided to relocate to Nashville from Los Angeles, and he
outfitted his new home studio with the help of Guitar
Center Professional (GC Pro), the outside sales division of Guitar
Center that focuses on the needs of professional users.
James Michael was no stranger to GC Pro. As he states,
“I’ve been working with GC Pro for many years out in L.A.
I kind of feel like my career has unfolded with GC Pro being a big
part of it.” Michael points out that GC Pro’s Richard
Ash, who likewise recently relocated to Nashville, “has always
been a huge part of helping develop what my studio was going to be
and what was going to work because I do so many different things.
My needs are pretty diverse, and GC Pro has been right there with
me all along the way, kind of guiding me and sometimes introducing
me to things that were going to end up being staples in my professional
Michael’s new Nashville studio features a Digidesign
D-Control Worksurface, Adams S4XH 3-Way Midfield Monitors, a selection
of Royer microphones, a number of Vintech X73i preamps, a Teletronix
LA-2A Compressor and several other outboard units, all spec’d
and sold out of GC Pro Nashville. His tracking/mixing space also contains
something truly unique: a drum kit outfitted with triggers, custom
developed by Michael with Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee,
through which Michael can access his extensive sample library.
“My relationship with GC Pro became even stronger
and closer here in Nashville, because I had to build this studio from
the ground up,” noted Michael. “I started off by building
the control room to be a mixing room, so it’s well-balanced,
and then built the tracking room from there, so it’s a project
studio for my purposes, but it’s also a fully functioning commercial
studio. Richard and I talked about the acoustics of the room, and
from there I ended up forming my own design. Once I got my basic gear
in there, it was time to expand and really take advantage of the space.
Throughout the whole process, Richard was right there, assisting me
with getting the gear I needed and giving me the correct advice.”
And despite the change of scenery, Michael won’t
be giving up on his rock roots any time soon. “Right now I’m
working on a radio mix for Papa Roach. I’m also in the middle
of production on a record for Interscope, for a band fronted by Taylor
Momsen, who is an actress you may have seen on Gossip Girl.
We’re also working on the next Sixx:A.M. record, which should
be out early 2010. And through all this, I know I’m lucky to
have GC Pro never more than a phone call away, ready to help me with
great gear and fantastic support.”
