NASHVILLE, TN, December 22, 2003 — Music City, home to more studios and professional musicians per capita than anywhere in the world, welcomes Guitar Center, America’s leading musical instrument and professional audio retailer, with the opening of its new Nashville location. The arrival of Guitar Center’s 20,000-square-foot superstore brings the city’s renowned base of musicians, producers, and audio engineers unprecedented access to more pro audio and MI product lines, incredible customer service, and a more intensely knowledgeable staff than any other music store before. Guitar Center has already proven to Nashville that it knows how to party: the opening night celebration on December 18th 2003 featured performances by local rockers Kung Pow and music from Buzz 102.9’s mobile truck, as well as appearances by the Tennessee Titans cheerleaders and the fabulous Flirt Girls.

The new Guitar Center superstore, the company’s 122nd store in its continuously expanding series of locations, is in many ways tailored to meet the Nashville music community’s specific needs. Located at 721 Thompson Lane, near I-65 and the 100 Oaks Mall, Guitar Center is conveniently situated in Nashville’s Berry Hill neighborhood, home to numerous recording studios and within minutes of famed Music Row and Nashville’s bustling downtown area. It’s also a short drive from the growing music suburbs of Franklin and Cool Springs. No other music retailer can offer the same combination of scale, comprehensiveness, and convenience that Guitar Center’s Nashville superstore does. The Nashville entertainment community now has access to the ultimate one-stop solution to purchase everything necessary to create the complete digital recording environment, including dedicated pro audio demo spaces, a vintage equipment room, Apple® computers, and a dedicated Digidesign Pro Tools® environment.

Furthermore, besides its well-equipped guitar, accessory, drums/percussion, keyboard, and pro audio departments, the new Nashville Guitar Center features an expanded acoustic instrument showroom, reflecting the city’s status as one of the world centers of acoustic music. In addition, for serious collectors and connoisseurs, a separate vintage room has been created featuring rare and one-of-a-kind specialty instruments.

“There’s a reason that Nashville is called Music City,” says David Angress, executive vice president of Guitar Center. “From my perspective, Nashville has the greatest concentration of recording studios and audio professionals anywhere in the world. This is a community that we can serve better than any other music and pro audio retailer, because only Guitar Center has the depth and scale of inventory as well as the expertise to address such a large and varied customer base. We’re very much looking forward to quickly becoming part of the music community here in Music City.”
