FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Panhandle House celebrates the grand opening of its new Studio B mix room with two PhantomFocus™ PFM HD-1000 Master Reference Monitor Systems

Carl Tatz Design Installs PFM HD-1000 Monitor Systems in both Studio A & B at Denton, Texas’s Panhandle House

Nashville, TN: Denton, Texas’s Panhandle House studio owners Erik and Marc Herbst have recently completed their in-house-designed and -built Studio B by having Carl Tatz Design (CTD®) commission two PhantomFocus PFM HD-1000 Master Reference Monitor Systems – one in the new Studio B mix room while upgrading the PhantomFocus System (PFS™) in Studio A, replacing the existing monitors with a pair of HD-1000s.

The Panhandle House (new website coming soon) is a legacy PhantomFocus adopter, having installed their first PhantomFocus System in Studio A back in 2007 and upgraded in 2016. “When the Herbst brothers contacted us about their plans to build a long-anticipated mix room, we were able to provide some acoustic data for them, but there was no question that they would want to continue the studio’s PhantomFocus legacy that, in some measure, has contributed to their position as one of the top recording facilities in north Texas,” states studio designer Carl Tatz.

Wanting to bring the Panhandle House monitoring up to the latest PhantomFocus spec in the new Studio B mix room, CTD installed, along with the PFM HD-1000 Master Reference Monitors, a pair of PFM ICE Cube-12 Subwoofers and Sound Anchor PF Monitor Stands, and utilized the latest PFS tuning algorithms.

Marc Herbst oversees the day-to-day operations as studio manager while having been instrumental in creating the uniquely beautiful library motif that was crafted into the Studio B mix room. As engineer, producer and musician, Erik Herbst is the musical creative heart of The Panhandle House.

Eric Herbst comments, “I’m really impressed with Carl’s latest version of the PFS, with the new PFM HD-1000 Monitors. The imaging and mix translation are better than ever. It’s really fun to be able to mix the low end just how you want and have it translate perfectly to the car or other systems. I’m loving the transient detail; it pushes me to be a better engineer and mixer."

About the PhantomFocus™ Monitor System
Carl Tatz Design’s proprietary PhantomFocus™ Monitor System monitor tuning protocol offers clients a unique opportunity to have a truly world-class monitoring experience in their room, no matter how modest. All speakers interact with the room they’re in, and the PhantomFocus Monitor System allows any monitors to perform at maximum accuracy – in any room – with a full 20Hz-to-20KHz frequency response and pinpoint imaging in what some owners have described as a “holographic sweet spot.” It is a new level of sonic accuracy that engenders easier, better and faster mixing that translates well in any environment.

There are approximately fifty steps in the proprietary PhantomFocus Monitor System implementation protocol, including phase alignment, system damping, speaker decoupling and isolation mounting, careful assessment of engineer/speaker placement relative to primary axial room modes, proprietary laser-calibrated speaker distancing and angle alignments, digitally-controlled crossover points and slopes for pass filtering, and, proprietary, multiband parametric equalization.

Hardware solutions can include monitor stands, concrete, Sorbothane™ and other isolation and damping materials, custom floating plenum mounts, subwoofer systems and custom digital processors. The PhantomFocus Monitor System evaluation and implementation is a full two-day process and can be applied to near-fields, mid-fields, and large soffit mounted monitors, regardless of manufacturer.

Carl Tatz Design installs the PhantomFocus Monitor System in existing control rooms and in all studios that are designed and built from the ground up by CTD. The result is like the aural equivalent of HDTV. Once you experience a PhantomFocus Monitor System, you can’t go back.
