Los Angeles CA, June 7, 2019 — The 2019 Recording Industry Golf & Poker Tournament™ (RIGT) was held Monday, June 3, 2019, at Sand Canyon Country Club in Santa Clarita, CA. The event was attended by dozens of recording industry leaders, including producers and engineers, leading manufacturers and more – serving as golfers, sponsors or both. This year’s event also included the very popular Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament. The event was organized by Karen Dunn of KMD Productions, LLC, and was once again held in support of the music program at A Place Called Home, a dynamic community center and safe haven in South Central Los Angeles where underserved youth 8-21 years old are empowered to take ownership of the quality and direction of their lives through programs in education, arts, and well-being.
Recording veterans Ed Cherney and Al Schmitt returned as Honorary Co-Chairs for the afternoon’s festivities. Participants included a who’s-who of the audio industry, including noted composer and producer CJ Vanston, engineer/producer Jim Scott, Steve Genewick of Capitol Studios, Gavin Lurssen of Lurssen Mastering, engineer/producer Dave Reitzas, Toby Rand and Gary Beers of INXS, producer/engineer Rafa Sardina, Andy Tompkins of NAMM/TEC Awards, Paul Sandweiss of Sound Design Corporation, Steven Slate of Slate Companies and dozens more. Sponsors included Audio-Technica, Lurssen Mastering, NAMM, David Angress Consulting, Bob Hodas Acoustic Analysis, The Recording Studio Insurance Program, studioexpresso, Westlake Pro with Avid, TransAudio Group with ATC, Leapwing Audio, Slate Companies, AVN | Sys and SSL. The tournament also featured the return of the Harley Davidson hole-in-one prize, offered by Bartels Insurance Agency (a 2019 Harley Davidson Fat Boy®).
In addition to the 18 holes of pristine golfing, poker, and the Harley Davidson hole-in-one, the day included a $1 million shoot-out opportunity, a $5,000 Putting Contest, a chance at $10,000 cash, great food, a reception and awards dinner, and more.
