Immediate Family music film documentary to be highlighted in a special event session during the Audio Engineering Society Show 2024 NY
– Band members Danny Kortchmar and Waddy Wachtel, and record producers Russ Titelman and Niko Bolas, will be joined by acclaimed filmmaker Denny Tedesco to discuss the multi-award winning documentary Immediate Family at AES –
NEW YORK, October 1, 2024 – On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, the Immediate Family music film documentary will be the focal point of a special event session at the AES Show 2024 NY, the world’s largest gathering of audio professionals, taking place Tuesday, October 8, through Thursday, October 10, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City. The session, titled “Immediate Family at AES NY 2024” will take place Wednesday, October 9, at 4:00pm-5:00pm EDT on the main stage on the show floor. Speakers include band members Danny Kortchmar and Waddy Wachtel, along with award-winning record producers Russ Titelman and Niko Bolas. The session will be moderated by acclaimed filmmaker Denny Tedesco, director of The Wrecking Crew and Immediate Family, winner of 18 film awards and scoring 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Additionally, the film won a prestigious 2023 Hollywood Music In Media Award (HMMA) in the category of Music Documentary-Special Program.
Legendary session musicians Danny Kortchmar, Waddy Wachtel, Russ Kunkel, and Leland Sklar have been the secret sauce behind the music of James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Keith Richards, Carole King, Stevie Nicks, Don Henley, Billy Joel, David Crosby, Joni Mitchell and so many other industry luminaries. They are now out of the studio, together in a headlining band, The Immediate Family, and on the big screen in an award-winning music film documentary, Immediate Family. Come to this very special event where Danny Kortchmar, Waddy Wachtel, Russ Titelman and Niko Bolas, alongside filmmaker Denny Tedesco, will discuss and show clips from the acclaimed film, which tracks the rise of the group through the 1970s and onward, spotlighting their prestigious collaborations and their indelible mark that helped define the sound of a generation. The Immediate Family film is produced by Greg Richling, Jack Piatt, and Jonathan Sheldon.

The Immediate Family (the modern iteration of a legendary studio ensemble known as “The Section”) is a unique group of iconic musicians composed of four of the most recorded, respected, and sought-after players in modern music: Danny Kortchmar (guitar and vocals), Waddy Wachtel (guitar and vocals), Leland Sklar (bass), Russ Kunkel (drums) and the addition of prominent touring, session guitarist and songwriter Steve Postell (guitar and vocals). Frequent collaborators both in the studio and on stage, their work can be heard on albums from Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks, Keith Richards, Warren Zevon, Graham Nash, Neil Young, David Crosby, and many, many more. Kortchmar, Sklar, and Kunkel have worked together since the early ‘70s and made up three-quarters of The Section, best known for both their studio and live work in support of some of the top-selling singer/songwriters and solo singers in the history of music, as well as their acclaimed instrumental albums. (By the mid-70s, they were later joined by Wachtel). The film reveals the machinery behind the booming era of the singer-songwriter, when the talents of these four
musicians were in furious demand. Collectively, these musicians helped define the sound of a generation.
