FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Danny Kortchmar of The Immediate Family To Appear at AES

LOS ANGELES, CA, October 12, 2019 — Acclaimed guitarist, producer, songwriter, session musician and founding member of The Section and Immediate Family, Danny Kortchmar, is slated to appear at the annual AES New York 2019 Pro Audio Convention, which takes place at the Jacob Javits Center, October 16 – 19.

Kortchmar will be featured at a Special Event session titled “Triple Threat: The Art, Production & Technology of Making Music,” where he will discuss all aspects of making music both creatively and technically. The session takes place on Thursday, October 17th from 3:00pm-4:00pm. From going to top commercial studios of the world, to building his own home studio to performing on stage with some of the top artists in the world, Kortchmar will share his secrets and experiences, digital and analog, then and now. He will be joined by GRAMMY® award-winning producer, Emmy-winning musical director, and A-list drummer Steve Jordan, who Kortchmar has worked with over the years.

On Friday October 18th, from 11:15am-12:15pm, Kortchmar will join top engineers/producers Chris Lord-Alge, Niko Bolas, Tom Lord-Alge and Dave Way who will discuss techniques they use from analog to digital and how they connect the dots of the past, present, and future of creative technology— and how we transaction into Pro Tools.

Danny Kortchmar’s resume reads like a who’s-who of the music industry. A renowned guitarist, producer, songwriter, and session musician, he has played, produced, and written for James Taylor, Don Henley, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, and Jackson Browne, among many others. As a songwriter, Kortchmar has either written alone or collaborated with numerous artists, penning indelible tracks such as Don Henley’s “Dirty Laundry,” “All She Wants to Do Is Dance,” and “New York Minute,” as well as Jackson Browne’s “Somebody’s Baby” and “Shaky Town,” to name a few.

In related news, following closely on the heals of his October 14th guest appearance on the noted music industry podcast, STORYOPHONIC, Kortchmar joins his Immediate Family band mates, Waddy Wachtel (guitar and vocals), Leland Sklar (bass), Russ Kunkel (drums) and Steve Postell (guitar and vocals) for a series of concerts on the east coast, including three nights at the legendary Iridium in New York City. To top off a busy October, he is being inducted into the Rock Godz Hall Of Fame at their 8th annual awards show. The ceremony celebrates the unsung heroes behind rock n’ roll’s most legendary musicians, bands and most famous instrumentation on chart-topping albums.
