The Recording Connection Presents the “Learn from Legends”
Master Apprenticeship Program

The apprenticeship/mentor learning model pioneered by The Recording Connection is taken to the next level through new master apprenticeship program that connects talented students with award-winning studio legends

A school program like none other, “Learn from Legends” offers a one-on-one relationship that goes far beyond private lessons, affording students a level of education that will prepare them to be the next
generation of legends in the making

Los Angeles, California, August 12, 2015 – The Recording Radio and Film Connection (RRF), a network of unique educational, instructional and mentorship programs developed for aspiring media professionals, created in 1983, today announces the introduction of its game-changing “Learn from Legends” Master Apprenticeship Program. For an educational institution that’s based on the classical mentoring/apprenticeship model, “Learn from Legends” represents the next level in pairing a talented aspiring media-arts student with a world-class professional who can act both as a mentor and a role model, providing the student with a learning experience that most hopefuls in the world of music production can only dream of. A school program like none other, “Learn from Legends” offers a one-on-one relationship that goes far beyond private lessons, affording students a level of education that will prepare them to be the next generation of legends in the making. The “Learn from Legends” program will be centered in Los Angeles, New York City, Nashville and other cities.

“Learn from Legends” pairs selected students in the Recording Connection program or other schools with true legends of the music industry — engineers and producers who have made some of the greatest music of all time. The student will learn one-on-one in the legendary studios where industry luminaries record their music (EastWest Studios, Conway Recording Studios, Capitol Studios and others), learning from the Master who created that music – and, in so doing, be given an unprecedented front row seat to learning opportunities unrivaled by any college classroom. The Recording Connection is the only school to offer this kind of exclusive access to professionals such as Al Schmitt (Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, Paul McCartney), Niko Bolas (Neil Young, Warren Zevon, Keith Richards), Michael Wagener (Mötley Crüe, Dokken, Alice Cooper) and others, who have worked with artists including U2, Frank Sinatra, Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Michael Jackson, Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, Neil Young, Nirvana, Sam Cooke, Ozzy Osbourne and hundreds more. This one-of-a-kind opportunity is only available through The Recording Connection via their Master Apprenticeship Program. To maintain the exclusivity of this unique program, there will be only limited enrollment availability. Those who qualify, however, will have the learning experience of a lifetime.

“Learn from Legends” is the first educational program of its kind: students will experience one-on-one learning in a Master's studio for an intense period of four-to-six months. It will be available by invitation only, and only if the student-apprentice has taken basic audio education courses recognized by the Recording Connection. Students can come from the Recording Connection beginner program or transfer in from another school, as long as it is one approved by the Recording Connection. Those students who do qualify will be able to intimately work with and learn from a truly rare group of professionals. Currently, they include Al Schmitt, Niko Bolas, Bob Bullock, Ross Hogarth, Ryan Hewitt, Michael James, Vance Powell, David Huff, Adam Moseley, Steve Marcantonio, Tim Palmer, Rhaki, Rafa Sardina, F. Reid Shippen, Bil VornDick, Michael Wagener and Dennis White. Other award-wining producers and engineers will be named in coming months.

“The mentor/apprentice model is one of the most enduring learning methodologies in the history of education, going all the way back to classical Greek pedagogy,” observes Brian Kraft, Chief Academic Officer of the Recording Connection. “Our new ‘Learn from Legends’ Master Apprenticeship Program will take that to its logical fulfillment, pairing truly gifted students with production professionals with industry-leading accomplishments. Our approach to learning in what has become a densely crowded market landscape is what sets Recording Connection apart from other schools. The ‘Learn from Legends’ program will make us stand out even more.”

Founded in 1983, Recording Connection Audio Institute has placed more than 10,000 persons in professional recording studios located in cities throughout the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. Persons admitted into the program receive mentored instruction in audio engineering and/or music production from within a local, high-caliber recording studio, generally located within an hour of where they live. The institute’s approach is to select dedicated individuals for apprenticeship positions within local recording studios, thus enabling them to build local connections while they learn their craft.
