RCF and TT+ Audio bring high-performance sound to iNDIEPLAZA
Ambassador Event Production deploys GTX 10 line arrays and GTS 29 subwoofers for the fifth annual Record Store Day celebration in the heart of New York City
Piscataway, NJ, August 19, 2026 – TT+ Audio’s GTX Series was the system of choice providing the sound reinforcement for the fifth annual iNDIEPLAZA, the free outdoor music festival presented by Rough Trade NYC and Rockefeller Center in celebration of Record Store Day. Held April 18 on Rockefeller Center Plaza, the all-day event drew several thousand music fans for a diverse lineup of live performances and DJ sets.
Headlined by indie rock veterans Superchunk, iNDIEPLAZA featured performances by Incendiary, Hotline TNT, Momma, Winter, Friko, Nuovo Testamento and Weird Nightmare, along with a special DJ set by Avalon Emerson. Soul in the Horn and Saint Virgil also performed DJ sets, with Saint Virgil serving as the event’s MC.
Mobile Stage Enterprises of Hauppauge, NY, led by owner Michael Laino, provided staging, sound and lighting for the event, partnering with Greenwich, CT-based Ambassador Event Production, who deployed the GTX system for the Plaza. Ambassador, an RCF partner headed by owner Matthew Dolan, supplied its GTX 10 system along with technical support for the event.
The main system consisted of 12 TT+ Audio GTX 10 line array modules (six flown per side), supported by six ground-stacked GTS 29 dual 19-inch high-performance subwoofers and eight TT 25-CXA coaxial stage monitors for artist monitoring, all powered by six RCF XPS 16K four-channel DSP amplifiers, with system management and monitoring handled with RCF’s RDNet platform.
RCF Product Specialist Oscar Mora worked alongside the Ambassador Event Production team and Tarik Solangi, RCF USA Vice President of Sales and Marketing, on system deployment and optimization.
“Rockefeller Center presents an interesting environment because you’re putting a concert-level system into one of the busiest and most recognizable public spaces in New York City,” says Solangi. “Our goal was to provide consistent coverage throughout the Plaza while delivering the impact and musicality these bands and their engineers expected. The GTX system did exactly that.”
With its location in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the production required a tightly coordinated schedule. The complete system was installed in the morning, supported performances throughout the day and was broken down that evening.
“Any time you’re loading in and setting up a production at Rockefeller Center, time and logistics are going to be important considerations,” Solangi continues. “Everything had to happen within a very specific window, but the system went together smoothly, we started the show on time and the entire day ran extremely well.”
The varied iNDIEPLAZA lineup also meant the GTX system was handed over to multiple visiting front-of-house engineers throughout the day. With acts ranging from established indie rock bands to punk, alternative and electronic artists, the PA needed to accommodate different mixing approaches while maintaining consistent performance across the Plaza.
“One of the things that stood out was the response from the visiting engineers,” Solangi adds. “With this type of festival, you have multiple engineers coming through front of house, each with their own expectations and approach to mixing. The feedback on the GTX system was extremely positive across the board. We were very happy with its performance, and the bands and engineers seemed equally pleased with what they were hearing.”
The compact GTX 10 is a two-way line array module from RCF’s TT+ Audio GTX family, engineered for high-output touring and live sound applications. Combined with the GTS 29 subwoofers, XPS Series amplification and RDNet management, the system provides an integrated sound reinforcement platform designed to scale from individual events to large-format touring and festival applications.
For iNDIEPLAZA, that combination provided the output, coverage and flexibility needed to bring a full-scale concert experience to Rockefeller Center while supporting a fast-moving, single-day festival production.
“It was a great crowd and a great setting for live music,” concludes Solangi. “There were several thousand people moving through the Plaza during the event, and the system gave us the coverage and energy we needed without making the production more complicated. It was a very smooth day and a great opportunity to put GTX in front of a wide range of artists, engineers and music fans.”
