AUDIO-TECHNICA EXPANDS ITS EXTENSIVE RANGE OF CONTRACTOR-EXCLUSIVE ENGINEERED
SOUND® BOUNDARY MICROPHONES

INFOCOMM, ANAHEIM, CA, June 19, 2007 — As part of the
recent advancements to its Engineered Sound® line, Audio-Technica
has updated the ES945 Omnidirectional Condenser and ES947 Cardioid Condenser
“button” Boundary Microphones. Developed in direct response
to requests from leading contractors and acoustical consultants, the
ES945 and ES947 boundary microphones offer outstanding speech intelligibility
and transparent sound quality for surface mount applications such as
conference tables, residential monitoring, in houses of worship, in
theater applications and other demanding sound pickup applications.
Employing Audio-Technica’s proprietary UniGuard®
technology, both models offer complete immunity to radio frequency interference
(RFI), making them perfectly suitable for operation in environments
congested with portable communications devices. Featuring a low-profile
design with robust construction, the ES945 and ES947 boundary microphones
are available in a low-reflectance black or white (ES945W/ES947W) finish,
plus can be painted allowing contractors to offer customers a high-quality,
low-profile audio solution that blends into any décor. With superior
off-axis rejection and maximum gain-before-feedback, these professional
microphones set audio-quality standards in the most challenging acoustic
environments. In addition, the ES945 and ES947 microphones are also
fully RoHS-compliant — free from all substances specified in the
EU directive on the reduction of hazardous substances.
The ES945 is a wide-range condenser microphone with an
omnidirectional polar pattern, has a frequency response of 40 Hz to
18,000 Hz, accepts a maximum input sound level of 142 dB SPL and measures
a mere 1.10" in diameter. The ES947 is a wide-range condenser microphone
with a unidirectional polar patter, a frequency response of 40 Hz to
12,000 Hz, can accept a maximum input sound level of 142 dB SPL and
measures a maximum diameter of 1.18". Both models feature a heavy-duty
die-cast case while a two-layer steel mesh grill adds additional protection.
The ES945 and ES947 are part of Audio-Technica’s
Engineered Sound line that is available only to the professional installed
sound market via a network of specialized sound contractors and system
integrators as opposed to retail outlets. Ideal for installation in
churches, boardrooms and government meeting rooms, courtrooms, distance-learning
facilities and other corporate installations, the Engineered Sound line
exemplifies A-T’s commitment to offering the fixed installation/sound
