AUDIO-TECHNICA DISPLAYS AT8022 AND BP4025 STEREO
MICROPHONES
— Two lightweight, compact stereo condensers offer
innovative capsule design —
WINTER NAMM SHOW, ANAHEIM, CA, January 15, 2009
— Audio-Technica displays the AT8022 X/Y Stereo Microphone and
the BP4025 X/Y Stereo Field Recording Microphone. Designed for broadcast
and professional recording, these two new stereo condensers are perfect
for use with professional audio and video equipment. Each offers an
innovative coincident capsule configuration that allows for a smaller
housing while producing a stereo image with the spatial impact and realism
of a live sound field. Both mics also feature a compact, lightweight
design, perfect for camera-mount use and other applications. The AT8022
is designed for use with either consumer or professional gear, while
the BP4025 is best suited for professional use.
Both the AT8022 and the BP4025 are ruggedly constructed
to protect against damage from day-to-day use during field recording.
The microphones are also fully RoHS-compliant (free from all substances
specified in the EU directive on the Reduction of Hazardous Substances).
Each mic offers an 80 Hz high-pass filter for easy switching from a
flat frequency response to a low-end roll-off. Each comes equipped with
a professional stand clamp, a windscreen and a soft, protective pouch.
The versatile AT8022 X/Y Stereo Microphone is designed
for easy use with either consumer or professional gear. The microphone
operates on either a 1.5V AA battery or 11-52V DC phantom power and
is supplied with two cables (one balanced, one unbalanced) for use with
either pro equipment offering XLR inputs or with consumer gear equipped
with 3.5 mm TRS input. This mic is ideal for use with handheld digital
recording devices, and its compact, lightweight design is perfect for
video camera-mount use as well as for stereo field recording, interviews
and home recording. Its innovative capsule configuration produces an
accurate stereo image in a smaller housing.
The BP4025 X/Y Stereo Field Recording Microphone, designed
specifically for professional broadcast and recording applications,
features large-diaphragm capsules offering pristine sound quality and
exceptionally low noise. It operates on 11-52V DC phantom power only.
The BP4025 has an integral 5-pin XLRM-type output and comes equipped
with a stereo cable with two 3-pin XLRM-type connectors at the output
end. In addition to a high-pass filter, the BP4025 offers a switchable
10 dB pad, which lowers the microphone’s sensitivity, providing
higher SPL capability for flexible use for a wide range of performers/speech
sources and system configurations. Its compact, lightweight design is
likewise ideal for camera-mount use, and its innovative coincident capsule
configuration also produces an accurate stereo image in a smaller housing.
For both the AT8022 and the BP4025, output for each stereo
channel is low impedance (Lo-Z) balanced. An integral 80 Hz high-pass
filter provides easy switching from a flat frequency response to a low-end
roll-off. The roll-off position reduces both microphones’ sensitivity
to popping in close vocal use and reduces the pickup of low-frequency
ambient noise. Placing each model nearer to the sound source enhances
the width of the stereo image while decreasing room ambience.
The AT8022 X/Y Stereo Microphone and the BP4025 X/Y Stereo
Field Recording Microphone is now available with pricing as follows:
AT8022 $499.00 U.S. MSRP
BP4025 $749.00 U.S. MSRP
