AUDIO-TECHNICA
DISPLAYS ITS AT4047MP MULTI-PATTERN CONDENSER MICROPHONE
— With omnidirectional,
cardioid and figure-of-eight polar patterns, the AT4047MP has been
optimized to meet the demands of professional recording, broadcast
and sound reinforcement —
WINTER NAMM SHOW, ANAHEIM, CA, January 14, 2010 — Audio-Technica,
a leading innovator in transducer technology for over 45 years, displays
the AT4047MP
Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone, developed in direct
response to end users requesting a multi-pattern version of A-T’s
legendary AT4047/SV.
The AT4047MP is one of the new offerings from A-T’s expanding
40 Series microphones. The AT4047MP, featuring a
warm vintage sound with exceptionally low self-noise, a wide dynamic
range and high SPL capability, is a side-address externally polarized
(DC bias) multi-pattern condenser microphone with three switchable
polar patterns: omnidirectional, cardioid and figure-eight. These
settings control the microphone’s sensitivity to sounds coming
from different directions. Like the AT4047/SV on which it was based,
the AT4047MP’s transformer-coupled output and specially tuned
element provide sonic characteristics reminiscent of early F.E.T.
studio microphone designs.
As
with all of Audio-Technica’s 40 Series microphones, the AT4047MP
comes standard with a newly announced extended 5-year warranty. This
product has also recently been certified by the Music Engineering
and Technology Alliance (METAlliance).
The
AT4047MP is designed to meet the most critical acoustic requirements
of professional recording, broadcast and sound reinforcement. Specific
applications in which the AT4047MP shines include vocals, acoustic
instruments, solo or group strings and any application needing a versatile,
switchable-pattern condenser mic with rich, vintage sound.
The
AT4047MP’s omnidirectional polar pattern is sensitive to sound
coming from all directions. Users can select the omni pattern to pick
up several voices or instruments on the same microphone, to diminish
proximity effect and to preserve the location’s ambient sound.
The cardioid polar pattern is more sensitive to sound originating
directly in front of the element, making it useful in controlling
feedback, reducing pickup of unwanted sounds and providing isolation
between performers. The figure-of-eight polar pattern is more sensitive
to sound originating in the front and back of the microphone, rejecting
sounds from the sides. It is often used in conjunction with advanced
stereo miking techniques.
The
AT4047MP’s output is a 3-pin XLRM-type connector. It requires
48V phantom power for operation. The microphone is equipped with a
switchable 10 dB pad and a switch that permits choice of flat response
or low-frequency roll-off (via integral 80 Hz high-pass filter).
The
AT4047MP is enclosed in a rugged housing. The precision-machined nickel-plated
brass acoustic element baffle provides enhanced element stability
and optimal sensitivity. The dual-diaphragm capsule design maintains
precise polar pattern definition across the full frequency range of
the microphone. Unwanted internal reflections are minimized by the
symmetrical housing assembly’s open acoustical environment.
The AT4047MP’s state-of-the-art design and manufacturing techniques
ensure compliance with A-T’s stringent consistency and reliability
standards; the mic is RoHS compliant, meaning it is free from all
substances specified in the EU directive on hazardous substances.
The
included AT8449/SV shock mount provides superior isolation and permits
mounting on any microphone stand with 5/8"-27 threads. The mic
and shock mount both feature a vintage silver-matte finish. A dust
cover and a protective carrying case are also included.
The
AT4047MP Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone is currently available
with a U.S. MSRP of $1,055.00. For more information, please visit
