Bose® Expands PowerMatch® Line of Configurable
Multichannel Power Amplifiers with Three New Models

Company introduces three new PowerMatch® models to offer contractors and system integrators a complete range of market-driven amplifiers.

Framingham, Massachusetts, April 10, 2013Bose® Professional builds on its proprietary PowerMatch® amplifier technology platform with three additional models of configurable professional power amplifiers. Based on decades of research across multiple industries, Bose engineers optimized audio performance with a robust Class-D amplifier and power supply design that together are uniquely capable of maintaining top performance even with unexpected variations in AC line voltage, rack temperature, and output load conditions. Configurable through the use of QuadBridge™ technology, each amplifier is capable of combining 2 or 4 output channels, creating flexible options to drive different power levels and loudspeaker impedances.

“Building off customer feedback we’ve received during our first 18 months with the PM8500, we developed three new models with different channel and power levels—all leveraging the same great performance, efficiency, and reliability of the acclaimed PM8500,” said Kyle Sullivan, Product Line Manager for Bose Pro Electronics. “Sound contractors and system integrators can now choose from four highly configurable models to cover the majority of their amp requirements for fixed installations ranging from demanding venues such as performing arts centers and sports arenas to high-end commercial installations including retail and hospitality locations.”

The full PowerMatch® amplifier line now includes the following models:
• PM8500 (8 channels, 4000 watts total rated power)
• PM8250 (8 channels, 2000 watts total rated power)
• PM4500 (4 channels, 2000 watts total rated power)
• PM4250 (4 channels, 1000 watts total rated power)

Network versions (PM8500N, PM8250N, PM4500N, PM4250N) are also available for each model, which enable control and monitoring over standard Ethernet networks.

All models deliver flat frequency response, wide dynamic range, and low distortion regardless of output level: Full audio frequency response deviation is +/- 0.5 dB (@ 1W), total harmonic distortion is <0.4% (@ 1W, 20 Hz – 20 kHz), Signal-to-noise ratio is >99 dB for the PM4250 and PM8250 and >102 dB for the PM4500 and PM8500 (below rated power, A-weighted). All models are housed in a 2U chassis and require standard AC circuits.

In conjunction with proprietary ControlSpace® Designer™ software, PowerMatch amplifiers offer the fullest feature set in their class – including onboard loudspeaker DSP, support for both low and high impedance loads (without external transformers), front-panel user interface, and fault detection, plus a digital expansion slot for use with optional audio networking and Bose ESPLink cards. PowerMatch amplifiers are put through Bose’s rigorous quality testing procedures and are backed by a 5-year warranty. The PM8250, PM4500 and PM4250 will be available starting June 2013.

About Bose Corporation
Bose Corporation was founded in 1964 by Dr. Amar G. Bose, professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Today, the company is primarily known for acoustics; however, its research has resulted in products for non-audio fields. Bose inventions have improved the performance of:

  • Loudspeakers
  • Home entertainment systems
  • Automotive music systems designed for the interior acoustics of each car model (first introduced by Bose)
  • Noise reducing headsets for pilots and the public (first introduced by Bose)
  • Sound in public spaces
  • The production of sound for musicians requiring electronic amplification of their instruments
  • Materials testing and durability simulation instruments for biomedical, industrial and commercial applications
  • Driver suspension systems for heavy-duty trucks
