GC PRO HELPS JAMAICAN SUPER-PRODUCER
STEVEN “LENKY” MARSDEN EXPAND HIS STUDIO AND HIS HORIZON
— Producer/remixer for artists including Christina Aguilera,
Sean Paul, Baha Men,
The Isley Brothers and Smash Mouth acquires SSL AWS 900+ Analogue Workstation
System to serve global radio market needs —
121st AES CONVENTION, SAN FRANCISCO, CA, October 6,
2006 — When Steven “Lenky” Marsden, producer
and remixer for hit recording artists in his native Jamaica and throughout
the world, needed to upgrade his personal studio, he turned to GC Pro,
the outside sales division of Guitar Center, Inc. (Nasdaq: GTRC) that
focuses on the needs of professionals. GC Pro helped Lenky select the
Solid State Logic AWS 900+ Analogue Workstation System, which took his
studio to the next level of sophistication. It’s a perfect match
for Lenky’s rocketing career; his discography includes records
with Christina Aguilera, The Isley Brothers, Ms. Dynamite, Sinead O’Connor,
Heather Headley, Baha Men and Smash Mouth, as well as top Jamaican artists
such as Elephant Man, Sean Paul and Zumjay.
Lenky’s recording/mixing facility in Kingston, Jamaica
had to expand to meet the needs of his growing success. “I had
been working with a Yamaha O2R mixer, which was fine for a while, but
I needed to create better mixes that met the expectations of the U.S.
and world radio markets,” Lenky explains. “I found that
I was going to the States more to mix, and that increased the costs
of projects by having to pay for studios and hotels. I needed to be
able to mix for radio at my own studio.”
Lenky had been making equipment purchases through another
source, when he and his manager, Jonathan Fine, were referred to Rick
Plushner, Director of Sales for GC Pro, who guided them in the equipment
selection process and helped assure the AWS 900+’s quick and secure
delivery. “From top to bottom, dealing with Rick and [Manhattan
Pro Accounts Manager] Spencer Snipes was a great experience,”
says Fine. “Anywhere in the process, I was always able to call
and get exactly the person I needed with precisely the information I
needed when we needed it. GC Pro shipped the console to Miami and we
took it from there. It was a totally seamless process. It’s a
great feeling knowing that kind of professionalism is always at work.”
As Lenky’s career as a producer and mixer continues to soar, his
studio will continue to expand, and GC Pro will be there to help him.
“I’m also a keyboard player, so I always need lots of equipment,
and GC Pro is going to be a great resource for me going forward,”
Lenky adds. “I’m finding that whatever equipment I need,
GC Pro has it — all the high-end stuff. From now on, I’m
using GC Pro.”
