FIVE TOWNS
COLLEGE TAKES ITS STUDIO FACILITY TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH A NEW NEVE
GENESYS CONSOLE FROM GUITAR CENTER PROFESSIONAL
— Five Towns’
Studio C now has the best of both worlds, with the Neve’s digital
work surface and analog channels that interface with an array of high-end
analog signal processing equipment —
WESTLAKE
VILLAGE, CA, October 16, 2009 — Five
Towns College, offering a leading professional audio engineering
and music production curriculum, has further upgraded its studio facilities
with the acquisition of a 24-fader Neve Genesys console, one of the
most advanced mixing surfaces available. The Neve Genesys was sold by
Guitar Center Professional (GC Pro),
the outside sales division of Guitar Center that focuses on the needs
of professional users. In fact, GC Pro is the exclusive USA distributor
of the critically acclaimed Genesys. The console’s capabilities
are comprehensive and include 24 channels of EQ, 24 channels of dynamics,
8 channels of 1073 transformer-modified pre-amps, Neve Total Recall
Software, 24 moving faders and a 24-channel Genesys stand. Installation
is scheduled to be completed at Five Towns’ Studio C in the fall
of 2009.
Five Towns College
professional audio instructors were already using Studio C for their
most advanced stereo and 5.1 mixing and audio post-production teaching
applications. “Studio C has long been our most sophisticated room
in that regard,” explains John Machado, Co-Chair of the Audio
Division of Five Towns College. However, Machado adds that the school’s
audio department also wanted a board that could demonstrate the hybrid
nature of the music tracking and mixing environment in today’s
recording studios. “Many studios have made the transition to mixing
within the computer,” he says. “However, the best studios
use equipment that gives them the best of the analog world and the digital
world. This hybrid approach can be seen in the Neve Genesys console.
We still have real hardware EQs, preamps and dynamics processing, but
also have the ability to control Pro Tools in the box as well.”
Machado says
the entire experience of selecting and purchasing the Neve Genesys console
was expeditious and streamlined. “Niyi Adelekan, our GC Pro Account
Manager, was extremely helpful and informative,” says Machado,
adding that Adelekan was also able to keep up with his rigorous teaching
schedule. “I’m very busy, especially at the start of the
new school year,” he says. “But GC Pro was able to get me
the information I needed when I needed it. We’re looking forward
to getting the Genesys console into the studio and continuing what has
become a great relationship with GC Pro.”
