FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GENELEC SPEAKERS ARE THE CHOICE FOR G&E MUSIC AND MIX’S NEW FLAGSHIP AUDIO POST PRODUCTION STUDIO DIVISION

— G&E’s Flavorlab facility consists of two existing audio post studios and the new flagship mix room, with surround audio provided by Genelec 8240A Active Monitors and the Genelec 7270A Active DSP Subwoofer —

NATICK, MA, April 20, 2009 — For the last dozen years, G&E Music and Mix (www.gemusic.com) has created award-winning music, mixing and sound design for a wide range of clients, including Discovery, HBO, MTV, Nickelodeon, ABC, CBS, VH1, FOX, Saatchi & Saatchi, Grey Advertising, Nokia, Pepsi and more. The talent of founders Glenn Schloss and Erik Blicker has been applied to TV, radio, network re-branding, documentaries, feature films, websites, ringtones and commercials. A symbol of that success is the opening in March of a new audio post-production and mixing studio, the flagship of the company’s new Flavorlab audio post division, which also includes two existing audio post studios. That studio is equipped with all-Genelec monitoring, which will help keep G&E at the top of their game. Five Genelec 8240A Active Monitors constitute the LCR array and surrounds, while a Genelec 7270A Active DSP Subwoofer adds a powerful punch to the low frequencies of the 5.1 system.

The sound of the Genelecs was critical in G&E Music and Mix’s choice. “We do a lot of music but also a lot of sound design and effects, so the sound has to be great and consistent throughout the spectrum, and the Genelecs definitely deliver on that,” explains Blicker. But as important in the decision was the ability of Genelec’s acclaimed Genelec Loudspeaker Management™ (GLM™) and AutoCal™ acoustical calibration software, which offered G&E highly specific capabilities that perfectly matched their needs. “We put a lot of value on client comfort, and we want them to feel completely relaxed when they’re in the studio with us,” Blicker explains. “With the Genelec software, we can create a sweet spot for the mix position and also create another accurately time-aligned one anywhere else in the room, for wherever the client feels most comfortable listening from. That kind of capability is awesome from the client’s point of view – and ours.”

Shane Koss, Store Manager at the Manhattan location of Alto Music, who made the sale, says Genelec’s unique DSP capabilities are a strong selling point for studio customers. “Especially in the city, where it’s uncommon to find acoustically perfect spaces to work in, GLM and AutoCal can handle any acoustical curve ball a space throws at the speakers,” he says. “I’ve had a number of situations where it’s made all the difference in the world for the customer.” Blicker agrees, adding, “The Genelecs are great-sounding and very technologically advanced. It’s a great combination for us.”

The new Genelec monitors will make their working debut for G&E Music and Mix and Flavorlab mixing the soundtracks for a PBS two-part/four-hour documentary on the subject of forgiveness, as well as a forthcoming HBO documentary.

Genelec, the pioneer in Active Monitoring technology, is celebrating over 30 years of designing and manufacturing active loudspeakers for true and accurate sound reproduction. Genelec is credited with promoting the concept of active transducer technology, which many manufacturers are just now incorporating into their products. Since its inception in 1978, Genelec has concentrated its efforts and resources into creating active monitors with unparalleled sonic integrity. The result is an active speaker system that has earned global acclaim for its accurate imaging, extremely high acoustic output from small enclosures, true high-fidelity with low distortion, and deep, rich bass.
