MANSION MOBILE TELEVISION HD CHOOSES GENELEC
— Full, accurate sound reproduction, thanks to Genelec 8240A
Active Monitors with GLM™ software, gives Mansion Mobile a consistent
monitoring environment and a competitive edge for sports and events
broadcast —
NATICK, MA, June 3, 2009 — Branson, Missouri-based
Mansion Mobile Television
is quickly emerging as one of the most desirable mobile television production
companies on the road today, covering sporting/entertainment events
throughout the Midwest. Its recently-unveiled flagship ME-2HD truck
features state-of-the-art components. For surround-sound reference audio
they have selected 8240A
Bi-Amplified Active DSP Monitors from Genelec,
the world’s longstanding pioneer in active monitoring. The truck
was designed by Santa Clara, California-based integrator Diversified
Systems.
The ME-2HD truck’s Genelec 8240A’s are set
up as a 5.1 surround system with a Genelec 7260A Subwoofer, and a separate
pair of 8030A Bi-Amplified Active Monitors is set up for PFL (pre-fade
listen), easily allowing the engineer to listen to the program material
prior to going live to air. “We needed a number of things from
our monitors,” stated Brad Palmer, Mansion Mobile Television Vice
President of Operations. “We needed great, accurate sound, versatility
and a consistent monitoring environment, and that’s what the 8240A’s
provide us. Personally, I’ve used Genelecs for quite a few years
now, in recording studio and broadcast applications, and I absolutely
love their performance. The sound representation is very true with these
monitors. Plus, we have a great relationship with Genelec, who has provided
excellent company support.”
One of the keys to the 8240A’s success in the ME-2HD
truck is Genelec’s proprietary GLM™ (Genelec Loudspeaker
Manager™) software with AutoCal™ automated acoustical system-wide
self-calibration algorithm. “It’s a truck, not a tuned studio
room, so it’s a challenging audio environment, and we get a number
of engineers who come in and work in this space, depending on the event,”
stated Palmer. “I know most trucks have a fairly simple, utilitarian
monitoring setup, but we wanted to give engineers the best possible
environment to mix in, and the 8240’s GLM software provides us
with what we need to that end. The GLM lets us set up the environment
inside the truck to get as true of a representation as we can for doing
sports, entertainment and music production. We can tailor the sweet
spot to be exactly where the engineer is sitting, and it really makes
a huge difference.” For added consistency of its monitoring environments,
Mansion Mobile utilizes a pair of 8030A’s in the truck’s
production control room.
Mansion Mobile Television is affiliated with Branson’s
Mansion Entertainment,
and Genelec monitors are also employed at the main facility. “We
have a recording studio at the Mansion, with Genelec 1039A monitors
and 8050 monitors in the A room as well as 8050s in the B room,”
stated Palmer. “There is also a video editing suite that has Genelec
1031A Bi-Amplified Monitoring Systems in a 5.1 configuration. It’s
especially important that we have consistent sound environments –
we might capture some footage in the truck and bring it back for further
editing, and we can rely on our Genelecs in all the different facilities
to give us the consistency we need.”
Mansion Mobile has covered major events in nearly every
sport and level of play imaginable, including NBA basketball, Major
League Baseball, Major League Soccer, NCAA/Big 12 basketball, and NFL.
Mansion Mobile is also members of Little Rock-based Alliance
Productions. Palmer looks forward to rolling out ME-2HD at this
caliber of events in the future. “We’re really excited to
use this truck for the Kansas City Chiefs pre-season games this August.
We had the truck designed with all sorts of events in mind, but sporting
events in particular. Surround sound and 5.1 is becoming more and more
critical for high-definition sports broadcast, and our truck nails it,
thanks in huge part to our Genelecs.”
