hires industry veteran Glenn Noyes —

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA, July 31, 2007
— Guitar Center, Inc. (Nasdaq NMS: GTRC), the leading musical instrument and professional audio retailer, is positioning itself for the next round of growth with new appointments and promotions within the Drum and Percussion Division. Jeff Lorenz has been promoted to the position of Director of Purchasing while industry veteran Glenn Noyes has been named Drum Buyer. The announcement was made by Mark S. Nelson, Vice President, Drums and Percussion Division and further underscores GC’s ongoing commitment to the expansion of its drum and percussion staff with leading industry professionals.

In his new position as Director of Purchasing, Drum and Percussion Division, Jeff Lorenz will oversee selection and maintenance of drum and percussion products for Guitar Center’s 200 plus stores across the United States. He will work closely with GC’s marketing department to provide input and build targeted promotions to drive sales as well as foster and maintain vendor relations. Jeff Lorenz has been with Guitar Center for the past 13 years, starting out on the sales floor at the company’s Hollywood location, then being promoted to Drum Assistant Buyer and then Buyer of the Drum and Percussion Division.

Industry veteran and newly appointed Drum Buyer – Drum Accessories Glenn Noyes is known throughout the drum and percussion world for his extensive knowledge and unparallel customer service/support. In his new position, Glenn Noyes will be in charge of purchasing all drum accessory related items for the entire chain as well as designing new and exclusive items for GC to sell. Additionally he will work closely with both Mark Nelson and Jeff Lorenz to continue the expansion of GC’s drum and percussion division, while offering his over twenty years experience in retail to ensure this future growth. Glenn Noyes began working at Guitar Center in 1986 as Drum Department Manager while continuing as a professional drummer working in and around the Los Angeles area. In 1987, Glenn helped create the highly successful Guitar Center “Drum Off” competition, which to this day continues to bring together thousands of the nation’s top undiscovered drummers together for a chance to live their dreams while competing for incredible prizes and national recognition. Glenn left Guitar Center in 1991 to become store/drum manager at West L.A. Music, a position he held until re-joining Guitar Center this past month.

Mark Nelson commented, “Both Jeff and Glenn bring an enormous amount of experience with them to their new positions and each is a key component as part of our strategy to not only expand our drum and percussion division, but to supply our customers with the most comprehensive and extensive selection of drums and percussion instruments. In addition to their extensive knowledge, Jeff and Glenn exemplify a work ethic that I am extremely proud of.”
