GUITAR CENTER AND GIBSON OFFER
EXCLUSIVE VIP TRIP TO WOLFMOTHER CONCERT
— Promotion also includes autographed Gibson guitar, custom-designed
guitar case,
chance to meet Wolfmother and more —
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA, August 29, 2006 —
Guitar Center, Inc. (Nasdaq:GTRC) announces its September promotion
in which one lucky winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip for
two to meet Australian rock trio Wolfmother and take in a live performance
in the city of his or her choice. The promotion, “Gibson Presents:
The Ultimate Wolfmother Prize,” also includes an autographed Gibson
SG Reissue guitar and a case customized by the band, as well as $500
in cash. Guitar Center has paired with Gibson Guitar to give its customers
the unique, exclusive opportunity to walk away with one-of-a kind prizes
and the chance to meet one of the year’s most exciting live bands,
according to Kyle Rogers, Marketing Manager for Guitar Center.
“Guitar Center has tremendous respect for bands
who spend years touring and building a fan base. Wolfmother is a great
example of what can happen when a band puts all their energy into making
music,” said Kyle Rogers.
The Australian band hit the scene in 2003 and released
a self-titled debut album in 2004. Inspired by MC5, Black Sabbath and
Led Zeppelin, Wolfmother has won numerous industry awards. They performed
recently at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, as well
as Coachella, where they were named “Breakout Band of the Year.”
“The combination of Wolfmother, Guitar Center and
Gibson Guitar makes for a tremendous promotion that recognizes a Gibson-supported
band making waves throughout the world,” said Henry Juszkiewicz,
chairman and chief executive officer of Gibson Guitar. “Our partner
Guitar Center has continuously offered its customers unforgettable experiences,
and Gibson Guitar is proud to be part of yet another rock-n-roll history-making
promotional event.”
Wolfmother has achieved much notoriety since debuting
their stylized mix of psychedelic/hard rock/heavy metal just a few years
ago. Signed with the Interscope/Modular labels, the band is also a supporting
act for a portion of the European leg of Pearl Jam’s 2006 tour.
“Rolling Stone and other noted sources have since
named the band one of the top 10 to watch, and the accolades just keep
coming, from Entertainment Weekly to Blender to Guitar World,”
said Dyana Kass, senior director of marketing with Interscope Records.
“We felt this promotion would be the perfect way to recognize
Wolfmother's accomplishments while also treating a fan to an unforgettable
concert experience.”
The month-long September promotion will culminate with
the winner announcement in mid-October. Interested participants can
submit entries at any Guitar Center location or online at www.guitarcenter.com.
