LEXICON OFFERS ROOM EQ UPGRADE FOR THE
MC-12 AND MC-12 BALANCED DIGITAL CONTROLLERS
— Lexicon’s MC-12 V4 EQ room equalization system improves
the listening experience while correcting for problematic low frequencies,
which are common in nearly every listening room —
CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW, LAS VEGAS, NV, January 6, 2005 —
Lexicon has announced a new upgrade for its flagship MC-12 and MC-12
Balanced Digital Controllers. The new V4 EQ room equalization system
is a powerful tool that allows the user to easily find and correct for
problematic low frequencies in the listening environment. The V4 EQ
Upgrade Kit (DSP card, software CD-ROM, Demo CD and documentation) along
with the companion Lexicon Mic Kit (4 omni-directional microphones,
4 stands with clips, carrying case and documentation) provide MC-12
owners an automatic digital room equalization package based on the latest
research in acoustics. Accessing the benefits of this comprehensive
system enhancement is remarkably simple, with clear instructions and
audible results. V4 EQ is the fourth MC-12 upgrade to be made available,
which further emphasizes Lexicon’s ongoing commitment to ensuring
that customers continue to benefit from unrivaled performance and additional
features via upgrades.
V4 EQ uses thorough and advanced room analysis techniques
and is completely integrated with the MC-12’s existing processing
so that no additional A/D/A conversion is required. The V4 EQ doubles
the amount of processing available in the MC-12, and provides up to
seven filters per channel for up to ten output channels. V4 EQ employs
four specially designed AKG® omni-directional room analysis microphones
allowing for detection of room modes (anomalies) that may be missed
by systems that employ only a single microphone.
The user simply sets the microphones on the seat(s) used
for listening, and then selects the automatic test from the MC-12 Speaker
Setting menu. Using Lexicon’s proprietary room analysis, V4 EQ
automatically analyzes the room, identifies problem room modes, and
applies the proper correction. It is a straightforward, efficient and
highly effective process.
The equalization can be turned on and off using the remote
control, allowing for before and after comparisons. Each of the EQ settings
can also be selected directly with discrete IR codes from the MC-12’s
remote control for even quicker comparisons. For installers and end
users, RS-232 control is also provided.
The Lexicon MC-12 is a reference-quality, 12-channel digital
control center with built-in digital audio processing, 12 configurable
inputs and 3 zones. It offers advanced audio technologies, as well as
two broadcast-quality video switchers and the most popular surround
decoding formats. Available in balanced and unbalanced versions, the
MC-12 redefines the world standard for serious home entertainment. The
MC-12 EQ upgrade is available now at a U.S. MSRP of $2995. The optional
microphone kit is also available now at a U.S. MSRP of $795.
