REVEL’S PERFORMA MODELS OFFER INSTALLERS
A HIGH-PERFORMANCE SOLUTION
— Revel displays three new high-performance loudspeakers,
featuring aluminum-alloy drivers for pristine audio in critical listening
applications —
CEDIA EXPO, INDIANAPOLIS, IN, September 10, 2004 — Revel
is exhibiting the Performa range of loudspeakers. Designed for use in
stereo or multi-channel applications, the new Performa models consist
of the F32, M22, and C32 loudspeakers. The Performa models benefit from
the latest innovations in transducer technology as well as the employment
of Revel’s vast engineering resources. The result is a series
of loudspeakers that realistically and accurately reproduce the signal
source with minimal distortion and coloration.
The Heart of the Performa Range: Advanced Drivers
At the heart of the Performa range are advanced transducers that employ
two high-grade Neodymium magnets — one “top” and one
“bottom” magnet with opposite polarity. The magnet material
is placed at the center of the motor structure, inside the voice coil.
This magnetic configuration improves magnetic shielding and reduces
extraneous magnetic fields. Inside the motor, a specially designed shield
cup secures an aluminum flux stabilization ring (except the C32 midrange
driver), which minimizes the modulation of the motor’s static
gap-flux field, greatly reducing distortion. Combined with a copper
cup in the motor gap, distortions are reduced even further. To dissipate
heat readily, the steel shield cup is black-plated, which aids heat
transfer from the transducer. A specially designed vent hole in the
motor’s pole and small holes in the shield cup also aid in removing
heat from the motor’s structure, allowing for high power handling.
In addition, special deep-anodized aluminum material is utilized throughout
to reduce mid-band distortions. The domes are designed to be slightly
larger than the voice coil diameter, so they can be attached directly
to the coil, while the spider is made from a high-strength Nomex blend,
with geometry optimized for increased linearity. The new Performa transducers
produce smoother frequency response and have a unique appearance.
Three Models, Three Color Options, Three Applications
The F32 is a three-way, full range speaker featuring four transducers:
two 6.5-inch woofers, a 5-inch mid-range, and 1-inch tweeter. Together,
the F32 transducers provide extremely wide frequency response with very
low distortion and high output capability. The F32 rear panel also includes
dual inputs for bi-amping or bi-wiring.
The M22 is a two-way monitor featuring a 6.5-inch aluminum
woofer and 1-inch tweeter. Together, they produce an expansive sound
with low distortion that belies the M22’s compact dimensions.
Threaded inserts in the enclosure accept the optional M20 stand. The
rear panel includes a switch for placement on a stand, or flush mounting
in a cabinet or wall.
The C32 is a true three-way center speaker and the perfect
companion to F32 and M22. It is also suited in systems that require
horizontally oriented speakers. The C32 consists of two 5.25-inch woofers,
a 3.5-inch mid-range, and 1-inch tweeter. The rear panel includes a
switch for placement above a video monitor, below a projection screen,
or flush mounting in a cabinet or wall. An optional C32 stand is also
available.
The new Performa speakers can be employed in stereo, as
an LCR array, or in a multi-channel setup, and are available in three
elegant wood veneers: Maple, Cherry, and Black Ash. When combined with
the Revel Performa B15 Subwoofer, an LCR array of the Performa C32 and
two F32 loudspeakers, with an additional two or four M22 loudspeakers
for the surrounds, make a perfect 5.1 or 7.1-channel surround sound
solution for critical listening environments.
Features common to all three Performa models include:
• High-performance, aluminum-alloy drivers
• Magnetic shielding for mounting near a video monitor
• Individual hand-tuning to match within a fraction of a decibel
of the reference standard, providing a very high level of unit-to-unit
consistency
• Radiused baffle edges to minimize diffraction and maximize treble
dispersion
• Sophisticated internal bracing to reduce audible colorations
introduced by unwanted cabinet vibration
• Tweeter output level control for fine-tuning
