WAVES RELEASES NEW BUNDLE FOR
YAMAHA Y56K/Y96K DSP CARDS
— Three classic Waves processors, L2 Ultramaximizer, Renaissance
Vox
and Renaissance Bass, now available —
NAMM WINTER SESSION, ANAHEIM, CA, January 20, 2005 —
Waves Ltd., leading provider of hardware and software digital signal
processing solutions for a comprehensive range of professional audio
applications, has announced the availability of three of its most sought-after
processors for the Yamaha Y56K and Y96K — DSP cards that are joint
developments between Waves and Yamaha. The latest of these cards, the
Y96K, is now shipping and offers support for 96 kHz sample rate. Both
high-performance DSP cards now benefit from access to Waves' renowned
signal processors, fully compatible with Yamaha digital consoles and
workstations. Either card simply inserts into a mini-YGDAI slot found
on the Yamaha host unit, to make a whole new world of signal processing
available for recording, mixing or live sound.
The Waves processors now offered for these cards are the
L2 Ultramaximizer, Renaissance Vox and Renaissance Bass. The processors
are available as the Waves Power Bundle I, and can also be purchased
separately. They can be downloaded, purchased, and authorized from a
new Waves website, www.y96k.com, which
provides software and support for the cards, including a free Y56K maintenance
update that enables the new processors to be installed on the Y56K card.
The L2 Ultramaximizer is the successor to Waves’
legendary L1 Peak limiter, and among other improvements it adds the
Waves Auto Release Control (ARC) for a leap forward in smoothness, clarity,
and lack of artifacts with its proprietary look-ahead brick-wall algorithm.
The L2 is the software equivalent of the Waves L2 hardware unit used
in prominent mastering facilities all over the world. The processor
significantly raises the average signal level without introducing audible
side effects, for louder mixes that effectively punch through in any
medium, giving a mix the definitive edge over the competition. Suitable
for mastering, mixing and recording, the L2 also offers extreme limiting
and vintage dynamic processing capabilities, with Waves IDR (Increased
Digital Resolution) dithering technology, 48-bit internal processing,
and re-quantization to 16, 18, 20, 22 or 24-bit output, for the ultimate
in sound quality and performance.
Renaissance Vox is heard every day on countless hit records.
It gives vocals instant warmth and sheen with just two simple controls
and two meters. The Gate control minimizes background noise while the
Compression control puts the vocal in your face — it’s as
simple as that. But under the hood Renaissance Vox is an extremely sophisticated
compressor/limiter and gating system with automatic gain balancing for
clip-free maximization of vocal presence and power.
Renaissance Bass is a superset of Waves’ MaxxBass®
technology that has been used extensively for years to create superb,
low, powerful bass that extends beyond a loudspeaker’s normal
frequency range. Using a carefully crafted harmonic generation algorithm,
Ren Bass allows precise control over the mix between original bass and
the Ren Bass effect, as well as the intensity of the effect itself.
It’s the fastest route to a deep, thumping bottom end to round
off any mix.
The processors are simply installed from any Windows PC
with a serial port, by connecting a DB9 cable from the computer’s
COM port to the card’s serial port and running the installer.
The free Y56K Maintenance Upgrade (not required for Y96K) is installed
in the same way prior to installing any of the processors on the Y56K
card.
All three of the processors are available individually
or as a bundle from www.y96k.com. They can be downloaded, purchased
and authorized entirely online, to supply these latest power processors
for the Y56K or Y96K card in the shortest possible time. All available
now, the L2 Ultramaximizer MSRP is $200, while Renaissance Vox and Renaissance
Bass retail for $100. Or buy the Waves Power Bundle and save $100 —
at $300 MSRP.
