FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE WOODWIND & BRASSWIND NAMED OFFICIAL SPONSOR
OF THE BAND CHICAGO

SOUTH BEND, IN, November 28, 2007 — The Woodwind & Brasswind (WWBW), a leading musical instrument retailer, is pleased to announce that it has been named the “Official Sponsor of the band Chicago.” The announcement comes on the heels of a recent visit by the legendary group to WWBW’s South Bend, Indiana, corporate headquarters and coincides with WWBW’s 30th anniversary and Chicago’s 40th anniversary.

Band members received a complete tour of the facilities, including the massive 30,000 square foot retail store.

"I haven't seen a store like that (Woodwind & Brasswind) anywhere in the world,” stated Chicago founding member and saxophonist Walt Parazaider. “Outside of having the largest variety of horns, instruments and accoutrements, the Woodwind & Brasswind has it all — from soup to nuts.”

Band member Lee Loughnane, who plays trumpet with the group, echoed Parazaider’s thoughts, "I was very impressed with the Woodwind & Brasswind from so many different aspects. They have an extensive selection of instruments that range from horns to drums to keyboards to lighting. Everything a musician could ever want, a true one stop shop!"

Peter Schivarelli, who manages Chicago, talks about WWBW becoming an Official Sponsor of the band. “The relationship between Woodwind & Brasswind and the band Chicago seemed to be a perfect fit, and with us celebrating our 40th Anniversary and Woodwind & Brasswind celebrating their 30th Anniversary, it seemed only natural!” Founding member Loughnane added, “Throughout my career, I have always believed in and supported getting kids involved in music and music education. That is one of the common threads we have with the Woodwind & Brasswind."

Formed in their namesake city in 1967, Chicago’s music mixed rock, pop, and jazz in a completely new way. Propelled by innovative horn arrangements, the band’s commercial potential was soon apparent when in 1970 the band hit the charts with its first of 21 Top 10 singles. The group would go on to score five consecutive #1 albums starting in 1972 with Chicago V, and concluding with Chicago IX – Chicago’s Greatest Hits. In a career both influential and extensive, Chicago has had worldwide sales of more than 120 million records and an astonishing 50 hits in the U.S. alone. Of their albums, 18 are gold, 13 are platinum, 12 have reached the top 10, and 5 have hit #1. Of their singles, Chicago enjoys 20 Top 10 hits, 5 #1 records and 5 gold singles. In addition, they have also received a GRAMMY® Award, a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and they continue to be a top live attraction, successfully touring throughout the U.S. and internationally every year.
