G-Technology® Teams with Focusrite Systems to Create Workflow
Scenarios for Its New Hollywood Studio Experience Center

Using the Focusrite Red 4Pre, Clarett 4Pre USB and RedNet X2P audio interfaces,
the G-Technology Studio showcases efficient and effective audio signal paths

Los Angeles, CA, August 6, 2019 – Look under the hood of any media-technology system and chances are you’ll find critical components made by G-Technology®, a Western Digital brand. G-Technology produces premium external storage products designed for creative pro, photography and A/V markets. When G-Technology wanted to build a demonstration venue that could illustrate to its clientele of Hollywood’s leading audio/video content creators, producers and engineers, it turned to several products from Focusrite, including the Red 4Pre 58-In / 64-Out Thunderbolt™ 2 and Pro Tools | HD™ compatible audio interface; Clarett 4Pre USB 2.0 interface, and RedNet X2P 2x2 Dante™ audio interface, as the way to move audio efficiently and demonstrate to customers effectively.

“We intended to build an AV workflow design and testing center so clients could see the products we sell, how they work, and how they work together, but especially to see how they can be configured in ways that work best for them,” explains Mike Gitig, Business Development at Western Digital’s G-Technology brand. “Workflows can seem simple, but they can get very complicated very quickly. For instance, a production company may be going from 1080p to 4K, and there’s a lot of moving parts to that, including for audio. So, we created an experience center that shows how those complications can be worked through.”

Key to achieving that are the Focusrite interfaces, implemented in two key demonstration areas: a small-suite audio editing studio and a more conventional recording studio, each in one corner of the G-Technology facility.

At the pro-audio demonstration area, G-Technology brand offerings include: G-SPEED Shuttle with Thunderbolt 3, G-RAID with Thunderbolt 3, G-DRIVE with Thunderbolt 3 and G-DRIVE mobile SSD R-Series. Additionally, the Red 4Pre and RedNet XP2 audio interfaces reflect a more ambitious workflow but at the same time illustrate how straightforward Focusrite’s Red technology can render them. “We have the Red 4Pre on the console that lets us get Dante in and out of the signal path, and the RedNet XP2 is in the small booth we’ve built adjacent to the studio, which gives those inside a substantial measure of control of the workflow,” Gitig explains.

The G-Technology Studio has been a huge success in just the few months since it opened, largely due to the high level of quality components they’ve used there, including components from Avid, Dolby, Shure, Sennheiser, Red cameras and other major brands, as well as Focusrite products
