Novation unveils FLkey 2, the next-generation keyboard controller for FL Studio
Los Angeles, CA – Novation has announced the release of the successor to its popular FLkey range of MIDI keyboard controllers. Officially supported by Image-Line, FLkey 2 builds upon the capabilities of its predecessor with upgraded hardware and even deeper connections to essential FL Studio tools and workflows. FLkey 2 incorporates a range of headline upgrades, including semi-weighted keys on FLkey 49 and 61, more responsive pads, endless encoders, and a crisp, new OLED display that places essential information from FL Studio projects directly on the keyboard itself. The full range also includes the powerful built-in creative tools including Scale and Chord Modes, plus a powerful arpeggiator.
FLkey 2 features deeper hardwired connections to essential FL Studio features via enhanced DAW scripts. It offers tactile control over essential Channel Rack, Mixer, and plugins parameters alongside expanded sequencing capabilities for the two rows of RGB-backlit pads.

Each of the new FLkey controllers includes a new software collection designed to enable beatmakers to get started right away: six months’ subscription to FL Studio’s Producer Edition; a range of premium instruments and effects from Native Instruments, GForce, Orchestral Tools and Klevgrand; bespoke finger-drumming and keyboard lessons from Melodics; and Novation Play — a virtual instrument packed with inspiring presets and designed to work seamlessly with FLkey’s controls.

- Lay down beats: FLkey’s 16 RGB pads are perfect for triggering samples in the Channel Rack, step sequencing, or finger drumming with FPC, Slicex, or Fruity Slicer.
- Play basslines and melodies: Each FLkey controller features great-feeling keys plus pitch and mod wheels or touch strips. 49 and 61-key sizes now feature semi-weighted keybeds.
- Build tracks with Patterns: Create and duplicate Patterns with a dedicated layout on the color-coded pads.
- Fine-tune levels, sweep filters, dial in effects, and more: Everything maps automatically to FLkey’s eight knobs and, on FLkey 49 and 61, nine faders.
- Quickly and easily lay down chord progressions, melodies, and patterns: FLkey has inspiring Scale and Chord Modes plus a powerful arpeggiator built right in.
- Essential info, right where you need it: The crisp, new OLED display shows you exactly which parameters you’re adjusting, chords you’re currently playing, and more.
- Split and layer the keys: FLkey 49 and 61’s keyboards can be split into independent zones or layers for playing two instruments at once.
- Go beyond FL Studio: Connect synths and other MIDI hardware via the MIDI Out port, craft custom layouts with Components, or control other DAWs with Mackie HUI support.
- NKS-ready hardware: Native Kontrol Standard creates a two-way connection between FLkey and all your Native Instruments and NKS-ready software.
